I should start off by saying that I don't ever review games but this is something I have to say. This is based off my experience so far in a coop run with my boyfriend which was fun for the first 30ish minutes but went downhill. Game has a great concept but is very poorly executed. It's like Season 8 of Game of Thrones. It gets you at first, but the more time you spend with it, the more you realise how much it is what you would have wanted in the game.

Combat is clunky with little to no variety in attacks. Your weapons do an inconsistent output of damage to either HP or the stability meter. If you manage to knock the enemy down, you get no reward for doing so because they fly backwards and by the time you get on top of them, you get 2 MAYBE 3 hits on the with very little damage and that's assuming your character doesn't miss. The stamina you spend swinging and trying to do damage doesn't support this type of combat because you would think that backing out and resetting would be good for you but the enemies move so much faster than you and pressure you that you burn more stamina that you deal damage. I used a quarterstaff up until I got a mace and shield off of a bandit and half of the time, if not 75%, the game refused to pull out my shield or my mace. They are both INDIVIDUALLY equipped weapons that takes 1-2 seconds each to equip. Pair that with having to remove you backpack so you don't fat roll and you get a total of about 5-7 seconds minimum before you can even fully fight something. This is assuming the enemy isn't just running at you and forcing you to play defense.

That brings the next point. The inventory system is a mess. You can't drag items from your inventory to your hotbar. You have to go through 3 more menus to find the item you want to select. And if you want to remap or rearrange your hotbar, have fun going through the same interface again to remap. Clicking and dragging to your hotbar is NONEXISTENT. Combine this with the fact the you have 3 separate inventories and you get a recipe for disaster. Your "Current Equipment" slot nullifies ALL weight, allowing you to carry whatever you need or want but the moment you put it away, you'll be encumbered. I know fantasy games don't always include realism but it doesn't make sense to be able to wield your weapons and in the process of swapping weapons, you become encumbered. and if you want to have a weapon in your bag, you'll have to drop it if you care about being able to dodge effectively. I had a Bow, Mace and Shield. Totalling 13lbs total. Your "pockets" can carry 10lbs and your satchel, 25lbs. Your Current Equiment slot can hold your bow while your mace and shield are in your pocket but the moment you switch to mace and shield to fight melee, you'll have to drop the backpack you have which has your bow in it because you wont be able to dodge easily otherwise.

Moving on from combat, the whole world is empty. Getting from point A to put B takes longer than waiting on a hot pocket to cool down. With a severe lack of enemies, it's like playing a game that's meant to be an MMO but has 0 players. There are many ledges you can't walk off of, areas that are pains to reach because of how large the map is compared to the player. If it were scaled down appropriately to the character, it might not feel so overwhelming to travel but with the lack of mounts, it's a headache and drag to travel an empty world.

There's more but I think this review is long enough. I got this game for about half off but it feels as though I'm playing an unreleased beta for an unpolished game. So much potential, hopefully the devs can bring it to a standing of where it belongs but as of me writing this review, I am struggling to get my money's worth.

Early Access Review
Great game and awesome community. Devs have an open discord server where the community mingles and are open to feedback, reporting bug fixes. Probably one of the greatest interactive communities out there.
