its a SIGNIFICANT improvement over the original which was already a great game

the graphics are fantastic, the combat and platforming is challenging, all the classes you can unlock play drastically different from one another, the music is good

honestly one of the few "criticisms" i can come up with is that, despite the game claiming its made with controller in mind, two of the classes, the ranger and gunslinger seem almost made around mouse controls, they are very hard to use effectively without a mouse, but i guess you can make a config with steam input to somewhat get around this

another criticism is the story, which is pretty incomprehensible, i think its trying to take itself seriously, but look at the artstyle and and the jokes, it clashes real hard with the story, the story is also presented poorly in written diaries you unlock piece by piece, from what i can gather the bosses are like insane corrupted nobles or something, they have this grand tragic backstory, and yet you defeat them playing as a clown with explosive flatulence using pizzas as a weapon

i think they drew inspiration from dark souls, but they missed the entire point of that story, hell id argue every dark souls after 1 also missed the point but thats a different topic

thankfully the story rarely gets in the way, the game is 99% gameplay, you can safely ignore the narrative
