I bought it for 3 Bucks while on Steam Sale and the game gave me 4 hours of amusement, I think that's a very fair deal. Probably wouldn't have enjoyed it as much had I paid full price.

Good
+ Campaign doesn't overstay its welcome, ends right before the joke gets old
+ Has some pretty amusing dialogue
+ It's funny to just move around as this awkward Octopus

Bad
- Later levels lack the Sandbox style fun of the start
- No fight stages which I think could have been amusing
- The hospital bonus stage is the best part of the game and I wish more of the game had been designed like it

Note: I played parts of the game both with a controller as well as Mouse and Keyboard. Using a controller is definitely easier to control Octodad with but the Mouse and Keyboard led to more humorous results in my opinion. Your mileage may very.

On a fundamental level this isn't a good game. Enemies easily blend into backgrounds, the pacing is at a snail's pace, the music is some of the worst I've ever heard this droning annoying sound that makes me rather play it on mute. I say avoid this game.

And you might say I've only played a little bit of it and I suck at games or whatever, but if a game can't catch you within the first hour it's just not a very good game. After dying to the fifth time because the dash attack doesn't have any immunity I realized this title simply isn't for me. This game isn't difficult as it is annoying.

I already read in the comments people making comparisons to this game's difficulty to the Souls Series, well Dark Souls doesn't have enemies warp in from nowhere ready to attack you within seconds. That's just cheap and frankly lazy game design.

I paid $10 for this on Kickstarter, I think anyone is insane to pay $20 (its starting price).

Also 30 FPS Lock? Seriously?

The simplicity in concept reminds me that of the old games you'd find on Newgrounds (think the Madness Combat series). It's definitely enjoyable enough for its $2.50 asking price. A solid timewaster.

Before you review any retro game I feel some background is neccessary. When Turok was a new title I only had access to a Playstation 1. As a result I'm confident that I hold no real nostalgia for the series. The only reason I bought this Steam release of Turok was from the suggestion of a friend and that I like Night Dive Studios who thankfully rescued System Shock 1 and 2 from being abandonware. For me the worst case scenario would be getting my money back through a refund.

I am happy to say that I've enjoyed my first hour and the first level of Turok and I'm certain I'll be coming back for more if not completing the full game. If you're like me and miss the days of FPS being "Doom-Clones" I am certain you will like Turok. The weapons are satifying to shoot, the enemies (ranging from Beasts to Humanoids who look like Scarecrows) all have lovely littlle death animations. The level design itself is one of the most interesting features. Whereas Doom and Quake had bitesized levels Turok has 8 levels. If each one is as big as Level 1 this is a fairly large game to explore. Much like Doom you're given a map and I personally find it enjoyable to see a blank map become filled out as you run around and kill everything that moves. I don't think you have to rely on a map much in this version but I'm sure it was a godsend for the console release with incredibly small draw distances the N64 version featured. To break up what could be a very repetitive game you have bits of platforming that I find enjoyable, only once or twice did I fall to my death so far.

There's some story about your lead character being a Time Traveller who has to stop some weapon from falling into the wrong hands but make no mistake you're just a Doomguy with a Indian Headress on. You're just going to be killing every monster in sight.

Like most action games with simple controls this game has aged very well, the primitive graphics are colorful and the game feels silky smooth in 1080p. The only thing I'm not digging is the music as at least in Level 1 it's just a repetitive jungle beat MIDI playing constantly. Sadly not every game can have a soundtrack composed by Trent Reznor.

The price is a tad bit steep, I'm used to paying only $10 for rereleases of 5th Gen games but when you consider Night Dive Studios made a brand new engine the extra $5 doesn't seem so bad for the work put into it. I say if you like an old school shooter get it and party like it's 1997.

Don't let the cutesy graphics fool you, this game is not going to be a cakewalk. With that said the Original Mode is suprisingly accessible letting a total scrub like me get past the first couple levels on one continue. I still have a long way to go before I can claim I beat this and that doesn't even include the Maniac and utterly daunting looking Ultra difficulty.

You go to any Shmup community and there will be a lot of reverance for the games made by Toaplan/Cave, just a few minutes of Mushihimesama demonstrate to you why that is. Gorgeous visuals, infectiously catchy music and top notch arcade quality make this a game you can go back to repeatedly.

So man up, turn your monitor vertically, and be the Bug Princess you were always meant to be! Mushihimesama is a must play for any fan of arcade games.

An amazing game, a marvel to look at and a game that won't treat you like a baby. Treasure did it this game justice with the HD Port. For a mere $10 it's a must have for any fan of the Shoot Em Up Genre.

Turn your Monitor Vertically and a play true work of art.

Three years ago Tim Schafer's DoubleFine sold nearly 90,000 fans on the idea of making and an Old School Adventure game. And after all this time he finally gives us the completed Broken Age, which is a mess and one of the worst games this acclaimed studio has produced.

I've spent a whole day revisiting Broken Age, replaying Part 1 and playing Part 2, as per Mr. Schafer's advice. And that actually made the experience far worse because it made it all the more apparent how cheap this game feels. There's only three (well more like two and a half) locations you'll spend the majority of time exploring in this game, and man does it get boring. This game is supposed to rekindle the love of the LucasArts Adventure games but you aren't exploring a large and varied game world, you're just walking back and forth between the same backdrops OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

And it's not like the artwork does anything to alleviate this, the art as you can tell is awful, it belongs in a cheap kids book that Scholastic would produce. It's not as interesting as the worlds the player explores in prior DoubleFine games or Lucasarts game. And the animation is absolutely barebones, the game is not nearly as fun to look at in motion as the Monkey Islands or Day of the Tentacle was. To be frank I feel like a loser playing this game, as the artstyle is so amatuer and childish I'm truly embarrassed to see it on my computer screen. I'd rather have friends catch me playing Hyperdimension Neptunia than Broken Age.

This would all be forgivable if yes this game were not for my demographic, as a man in my 20s I obviously understand that everything isn't made for me and Broken Age looks perfect for young children. But I would never suggest this game for children because it's not at all designed for novice or easily distracted players. There is no option for a "Goal" system to remind you what you're looking for or hints, if you forget what it is you're after in the game you just end up wandering around the environment till you find the right NPC. So yes in some ways Doublefine did indeed make an Old School Adventure game, while I can't speak for everyone this isn't what I loved Adventure Games for. I loved them because they felt like semi-interactive cartoons, with puzzles that made me scratch my head and then feel smart for solving them. Broken Age Puzzles are either ridiculously easy or ridiculously obtuse with no middle ground.

The amount of activity is also extremely low in Broken Age. Any of those old Lucasarts games allowed you to click around the environments and your character would say a funny little line, there's only a items in Broken Age that have the characters say anything out loud and it's usually just them stating the obvious with no fanfare. You don't even get a fun line by trying to use the inventory in ways you obviously shouldn't, for an example the character Vella doesn't react negatively to you suggesting you use a knife on her little sister.

The only compliment I can pay Broken Age is that the audio is nice. Tim clearly used a large portion of his 3.3 Million budget to rub elbows with celebrities and hang out with an Orchestra. As if the players really cared if the actor who played Frodo Baggins is the star of the game.

Do not buy this game for $20, hell I'd have a hard time saying it's worth $10. This is mediocrity and not even one that has lovable quirks. Doublefine put so little effort into it that I'm upset at how much time I've spent playing it. I only feel compelled to complete it because I gave them so much money in the Kickstarter.

Shame on you Doublefine and Tim Schafer, you went directly to the gaming enthusiasts and we might not give the cash a big publisher can provide but we allowed you full control on this project. And you squandered it on something completely unmemorable and spent most of that time partying and filming a self-fellating documentary.

Good luck ever trying to make a Kickstarter as popular as this first one was. Because I sure as hell am not pledging again and I doubt I'm an anomaly.

Before you buy this game I urge you to play through all the Lucasarts and Telltale Adventure games, after that play everything else Doublefine made. Trust me they are all better games.

Visually stunning, the gunplay feels incredibly satisfying. If the entire game had large open levels like the stages at the end of the game it would be perfect. Definitely worth 5 bucks.

Manly game for manly men. I highly reccommend it. Background Sprites could use a little work but mechanically the game is stellar.
