A very cute clean up game. It's not a masterpiece but it's fun. The animal choices in the last few levels feel very strange though racoons in south america? they're only found in north america so that doesn't make sense; peacocks in central america? they're found in south asia not in the americas. It feels wrong and kind of upsetting that the developer didn't bother to look up any local animals for these locations.

No matter how many times i replay this game it is always enjoyable, the story of Ezio and the wonderful cityscapes of renaissance Italy pull me in and it feels like visiting an old friend. The feeling the world gives you is immersive and the busywork doesn't even feel taxing (except for those damned feathers that i will never collect). At this point the game shows it's age, the controls feel kind of clunky and there are strange and terrible locked camera angles and yet those things just make me laugh and somehow enjoy it more despite how frustrating it can be sometimes. Assassin's Creed II feels like a wonderful journey from start to finish, even the conspiracies buried in The Truth are interesting and the puzzles are fun to figure out though they can be frustrating. It's breathtaking at times when the music enhances it's beautiful vistas visible from the very top of every tower in Firenze or Venezia (we do NOT talk about Forli). It's a fitting beginning that i wistfully think back on from time to time. I wholeheartedly recommend it whether you will play it for the first time or the fifth, the homely cities and lovely music will welcome you with open arms.
