I can't believe the GOTY released so early this year

This is a game about guns.
There are a lot of guns.
There are sometimes things that aren't guns. Unlike another game about guns, these things that aren't guns aren't a bad thing.
There is a lot of gun variety - each gun feels very different even before the randomised traits are added.

Honestly, I'd put this game on-par with Colours and Generations, in both their strengths AND their flaws. Frontiers 'aint a perfect game by any means - but what Sonic game is, honestly? Even still, a game doesn't have to be perfect to put a grin on my face for pretty much the entire experience. Even the part I expected to be mediocre (the Cyberspace levels) turned out to actually be quite fun.

I definitely know I'll be coming back to replay this one later, just like I do with Colours and Generations.

Surprisingly few bugs too - I can only remember three, and two of them are just nitpicking: sometimes rings rotate sideways, and the shader on the chaos emeralds only seems to work twice a second, causing them to be in two places at once. As for the major bug... I once boosted off a ramp and Sonic just decided that his people needed him, and I ascended forever. And yes, weird floating point glitches DO occur after you fly so far. Sonic's model gets real warbly after 1,000,000 units of distance. Though gonna be honest, that bug was hilarious and only added to the enjoyment of the game (plus, I could just fast travel or reload my save at any time to get back to solid ground, so it's not like I was stuck up there)

Man, I love this new "beat-based" sub-genre that seems to be cropping up. Crypt of the NecroDancer, Mad Rat Dead, Bullets per Minute and now this.

There are a few problems I have, such as the difficulty options being stingy late into the game (why do I have to hit the level cap to unlock the hardest difficulty?), some of the music choices were a bit "meh" (especially in Worlds 8 and 9 - they were definitely a bit front-heavy with the good music, as World 1 has my favourite tracks!), plus the enemy variety was a bit basic with you constantly seeing minor variations on the same enemy types in the higher difficulties.

Despite all that though, I REALLY enjoyed this one.

When Puyo Puyo Tetris 1 released, it was the best casual Tetris game since Tetris DS.

... It's a shame it lost its crown so quickly, really.

If you want to play Tetris, THIS is the game to play. It's got so many different modes to mix things up, including both competitive and *cooperative* multiplayer modes. So much time I've spent playing the Connected and Purify modes, and they aren't even the main draw!

(If you're wondering why my time is so low at time of review, I previously played this game during my Game Pass trial :V Glad I can finally play the game again, though!)

Immediately closes after launch. Has been doing so for the past month or so now, and haven't really been able to find any info about it. Guess I'm stuck with OVRToolkit for now, but I honestly did prefer this program, as it ran better when it worked.

This is a very, very good mod with the puzzle quality of which I'd expect from an official Valve title. It can be a little bit buggy at times (one time I saw half the outline of the Time Portal just stay there when the portal was forcibly removed) but other than that, it's near-perfect. Plus, these are puzzles which play to Portal's own strengths, not requiring you to perform split-second portal placements like I've seen in some other level packs or mods. I could legitimately see these puzzles in an actual Portal title.

I did get stuck on Chamber 9 due to a mechanic which wasn't explained quite so well at first (momentum with diagonal time portals - it's actually one of the puzzles in the screenshots, now that I realise it!) - but other than that, I found the puzzles to be of good difficulty. Nothing really halted me in my tracks for longer than expected. (Though I'd have honestly loved to have a bit more complexity in some of the later chambers - Chamber 25 especially was disappointingly straightforward, and that was the final one!)

It's a fantastic mod ... as long as you don't think too hard about the time travel mechanics, anyway. I found it easier to think of the other world more as a "Mirror World" than actual time travel, because otherwise stuff *really* doesn't make logical sense. (Like why would a 20-year-old cube in the present not create a 40-year-old cube in the future?)

Honestly, this game's a vast improvement over 20XX! No more reused level themes (every boss gets their own theme!), each stage has a miniboss and sometimes a *bonus* miniboss, the art style is immensely improved, there's an absolute ton of new items to get, there's a level editor to make your own level pieces or full-on levels to encounter in Community Mode, the OST absolutely BOPS (76 tracks, too!), Nina and Ace have brand new mechanics... this is definitely a sequel in its true form.

Honestly I just wanted to make my review Not Outdated, but man I'm enjoying this game too much.

Supergiant does it again. What more is there to say, other than that this may very well have topped Bastion as my Favourite Game of All Time?
