UNPLAYABLE!
Despite having a good net connection I kept getting bombarded with Error codes all related to network issue.
Tried a few tricks I know from the olden days non worked.
I got to the first 20 seconds of the round then everything froze which reminded me of the online games of 20 years ago where good internet connection of everyone playing the round was a MUST.

Pity despite giving you a high tempo, colorful and energized feeling it is ultimately deflates you with all the error codes and disconnections.

I guess that is the price for a Free 2 Play games. (my first F2P game ever)

Early Access Review
Simply No.
Unplayable with 1080 TI 32G RAM. HIGH 10 FPS. LOW 35 FPS.
If UE5 had a flopped game, this would the first.
Have 1000+ on OG Ark and this one just looks like a copy paste of assets to UE 5 with 0 optimization.
Refunded.

Early Access Review
"I just finished playing the Early Access version of Sons of the Forest, and I have to say I'm impressed! The game's stunning graphics and open world environment really blew me away. It's hard to believe that such an impressive game was built on the Unity engine, which is usually overshadowed by bigger engines like Unreal and Frostbite. The short story was cool and had a lot of potential for expansion, and I can't wait to see what the development team has in store for future updates.

The survival aspects of the game were also really engaging, and I found myself constantly searching for resources and trying to stay alive in the wilderness. However, I do think the game could benefit from even more focus on the survival elements, as well as more content overall.

Overall, Sons of the Forest is an impressive game with a lot of potential. I'm excited to see how the development team will continue to build on this solid foundation. If you're a fan of survival games, open world exploration, and stunning graphics, I definitely recommend giving this game a try!"

Really Beautiful and visually pleasing game but seriously lacking in content to keep playing it fun and interesting. This game is super enjoyable yet gets worn out just as fast.

I am a big NO NO on Early Access games going with DLC system.

It is really enjoyable to play and it has brought so many, many new "Must have" mechanics to building-crafting-open-world games that is revolutionary. Something as simple as being able to place a supporting pillar on the corner of a room can be really satisfying. The game has a very long way to go and I hope the dev team takes this game in the right path and make more enjoyable.
As it stands, game becomes boring and repetitive after one of two days of playing it. Missions are similar and boring and the only thing that makes this game shine is the stunning visuals and many new mechanics introduced to gaming world with this game, especially the structure building mechanics should be a standard for all the games that claim to be Open world, survival-Crafting.

Having said all that, so far the path game has been going through has been less that productive and there has been really small progress made on the game which is disappointing. New map which is somehow a DLC (I resent it) is bare and uncool and ugly.
I did really enjoy the short movie they did on the game's Lore. Really cool.
Word to the development team, make the game fun, ALIEN, unknown, scary, dangerous and FRESH. I still have hope in your vision. Keep it up.

One of the most interesting RTS games I have played in past two decades. Very well designed and crafted with attention to details beyond its time. I have had forgotten how a cool polished and in depth RTS looked like since the good old days of C&C Generals. The storyline is was really fascinating and was going somewhere but sadly it was way too short. Not to mention the amazing voice acting and well made RTS random comms that goes on in the background as well as mission character voices were top notch which made me feel that I am playing with them though you are not able to visually see them. Voice acting and script lines gets 10/10 here. Graphically the game was overwhelming since it came out back in 2016. The tactical decision making mechanics of the game was also nice and well designed but like I said for its time since no one will ever play any game with ARROW keys in 2022~3. If you are into RTS then definitely give this game a go since it is in the of AAA of RTS gaming with a fantastic dev team behind it. Level design and the overall atmosphere and the vibe of the game is really amazing. The only thing that got my by surprise was the game was way too short. I mean DEMO version short.
It seems there is a sequel in works and I will definitely give that one a go as well.
All in all I did enjoy it, old as it may be.

As someone who has gone through this I am amazed at the level of details and the way story is being told. A very sad, burutal game that shows 10% of what really happened. A future lost, a nation gone. In this day and age I simply cannot find out what is real and what is not but this one hits home since I have lived it. It maybe the 10% of that horror but still. Very nice gem in the rough.

Avalanche studios I salute you
The Direction, the Art team, the visuals, and the audio. What a masterpiece you have created. A genuine diamond in the rough in these barren wastelands of the gaming era. I truly felt that I am the car and the car is me. It felt so satisfying to drive over the empty wastelands and I sure felt amazing driving on the dune and the immersion was unbelievable. The grim world you have created that was perfected by a once-in-a-decade game design was simply awe-inspiring. Through what you have made I saw the world we live in right now and how it resonates with it took me into a deep rabbit hole of enormous sadness and a sense of hopelessness. It was more than a game but a journey in my own soul. I literary felt that I am traveling through my mind and my memories and the actual world I live in with all the NOISE removed. I am lost for words in admiration of this incredible experience. You have done more than justice to the source material by bringing it to life in such an amazing way and style. A MUST PLAY game that just entered my 20 years of Hall of Fame. I sincerely thank you for this experience and am filled with grief that we did not see a follow up which left me craving for more, much much more. I still hope you still pull off something epic like this anytime soon. You guys and everyone involved are amazing and I know I am coming up a few years too late but boy the game resonates with me so deeply that I cannot express it and do it justice, the state of my life, the state of the world. The feeling of we all are lost and we just don't you know it. This was a sobering and unbelievably enjoyable experience and not to mention the game itself holds extremely well after all these years. Again, a true diamond in the rough.
Utterly wish we could've had more of these precious gems made by master gem makers.

Sincerely
Neo

A must play game. One of the rare few games that came out just fine back in the days. Amazing vast open world like nothing you have ever tasted. Well written voice acting and amazing design. After all these years it still holds up. It really does. Pity we never got Breakpoint on steam. Get it no questions asked and go for it.

Early Access Review
I got this game on Dec 22 2018 and I was very excited since it had so much potential and I got it to wait it out and let it mature and become a playable cool game that it could have been and ever since then which has been a long time rarely a thing has changed. I tried to get back into it a while ago and if I am being honest I find it where I left it and barely noticed a thing. The game is so basic that you get what is going on under 1 hour and there is not much to it after that. So you can easily get a feel for the game under 2 hours steam refund to see if you like it or not but back then I got it to support the devs.
Sure I have a very decent PC to run any game at it's best but due to bad optimization there are lags and delays and draw time like never before which reminded me of old days when my PC could not run Crysis yet this game is far from anything that good.
I have no idea where this game is going or even going at all.
For me time is the most valuable currency as I am sure it is the same for most of you my fellow Gamer friends so I cannot on good consciences recommend this game. Not even for free, stay away from it and if you really like it then follow it on YouTube and 3rd party reviewers.
So many Early Access games with good team and decent budgets have broken my heart recently that I feel forced to write a review to stop others from falling to the same hole I find myself in.
I love to support starter Early Access games but when they don't deliver it really hurts.

Kind Regards
Neo

I did not enjoy the clunky gameplay and out dated visuals and unattractive characters! The game feels dull, cold and dead. It is too bland for my taste.
