Within the realm of DayZ, not looking up a guide and trying to *feel* your way around this game will lead to boring yourself out or dying without knowing your objective which really makes it seem like a time waste; but once you've nailed down where your next water source/loot area for a certain item or weapon will keep you entertained for hours.

I played over 100 hours on release and into pre-alpha but was frustrated with Rocket and the team with the lack of content and how long it was taking but alas my young mind wasn't able to comprehend how hard it was to get the gameplay just right; returning 2-3 years later I suddenly dropped 16 hours with my friends trying to survive again with way better framerate.

Most vanilla severs don't have many friendly/hero players whereas community servers have included Epoch and Overpoch style gameplay into the regular system; nullifying most Arma 2 Mod servers in my opinion.
