It's a classic game; gameplay is good although the AI can be very annoying in skirmish.

Between Company of Heroes 1 and 2, I'm going with 1 every single time. I redownloaded this during my move when I was waiting for my gaming computer to arrive and I decided to check out the store because I had built up a decent amount of in game credits. My credit balance was dwarfed by the cost of everything in the shop; and it becomes apparent that they just want you to do the microtransaction and get it over with. So I'm like alright, should be like 99 cents per commander or something. Nope, up to 4 dollars. The paywalls don't necessarily stop you from playing the game, but it detracts from the game when each commander has different units available and the one I wanted when I first booted up is still like 4-5 dollars

Mind you, this game came out in 2013 and it's sequel has been released. After a certain point they should have just lumped everything into one big bundle on the store and reduced the price drastically. Unfortunately, the game industry is the game industry.

Features:
-Some may like the smaller more micromanaging scale that the combat is done at. In this compared to CoH1, I suppose infantry feel stronger, though there's nothing stopping an entire squad loss due to one tank shell.
-Reduced base building; for a few armies everything's already there, so you can really upgrade your base from any point on the map without engineers; which differs from CoH1.
-You can play as the Soviets, which is neat I guess.

Bottom line up front: just play CoH1 unless you really have a reason you want to play this game.

In my opinion the best RTS ever. The deck building is amazing, the story is actually really fun to play. The only downsides are the AI in skirmish mode are dumb but skirmish mode is still pretty fun anyways. The other downside is Warchat being video game Mos Eisley; a hive of scum and villainy.

I got Verdun originally, and had so much fun. The gameplay was fun and refreshing, map design was on point, and there were a decent amount of players. Not anymore.

With this game, Verdun, and the other one (Isonzo or whatever), it seems like the dev team has went awry with their management of the game. You just can't release three separate games (all having paid supporter editions and the newest one having microtransaction cosmetics and other stuff) in a very niche setting and expect to have 3 successful games. Now basically all three games are dead, which is a shame.

The gameplay for this one more or less the same as Verdun, but honestly I wouldn't recommend buying because there's no solid guarantee of getting to experience it.

Played for maybe 10 hours and got the Supporter Edition. This game has so much potential, and it already is a very polished product.

The videos you see on popular clock apps show mostly antics and shenanigans, but the game has a lot more in it than that. The tactical opportunities provided by what is currently a fraction of the devs vision for release is far more than any game out today. It's like Rainbow Six Vegas and Squad came together and had Ready or Not as a lovechild. The gunplay is brief and brutal and feels entirely natural. The game wants you to go in prepared and smart and attempt not to go in guns blazing all the time, some missions rely on you getting a suspect to surrender, which allows you to employ a number of nonlethal measures. However, there's nothing stopping you from acting as Judge Dredd. There's a lot of ways to play this game. Make sure your senses are sharp or you plan well, do neither and you'll become a victim in short order.

BLUF:

Pros:
-Tactical SWAT action with hella gadgets
-Replay value, no mission goes exactly the same
-Guns/combat have a violent, authentic feel
-Get to kill human traffickers
-Get to raid a meth house

Cons:
-I don't know why women keep telling me their mom has a mexican maid

A year later, I'm updating this to say that the amount of work the devs have put in shows in one year. Significant AI changes, great map design, and a lot more guns and maps than upon initial release.
