Highly recommended. Quite magical story, believable characters, immersive atmosphere, good soundtrack, and balanced mechanics (at least in early- and mid-game). Oh and so many of this place's inhabitants love casually embracing someone. I like it.

With the mighty power of mushroom farming, the colony was finally free of their greedy colonizer's grip and gained some sort of independence, and the field was getting happily harvested every 4 cycles ever after... Wait no no no that's not it. On the surface, this looks like a rather normal dystopian story. You play as a robot inplanted with a human consciousness on the run, and all around you are doom and gloom caused by greedy corporations.

However, as the story progresses, you see there's humanity in every corner of this terrible world. Everyone has one kind of trauma or another, yet they carry on. Everyone had been betrayed, yet if you treat them as human, they'll do the same in return (mostly). After cycles and cycles, you feel settled down. You feel like this is your home. You feel like one of them. It will be a very painful thought if you went down a route that might lead to you leaving the place. Seeing all the warmth of humanity intertwining in this dark world is strangely tear-inducing. I totally didn't expect this to bring such amount of tear...

There's also the diversity. The most noticable aspect is people's pronouns: Several characters are always referred to with a genderless singular they. But there's more. There's diversity everywhere, and most are pretty nature. I quite like the depiction of a certain captain in the DLC content. A leader at the same time can still retain that human vulnerability, be loving and caring to her people, be determined to protect their heritage, think decisively clear, quickly understand the situation, and be easy to approach. That's quite an unconventional "captain", although to be honest she's just being a normal human being.

As for the flaws... The UI is a beautiful but a bit clunky, and in the late-game where it's basically impossible to die, it will feel repetitive. Also, although character-wise there's pretty good diversity, every corporation in this story is depicted as either super evil or stupidly useless (or both).
