I haven't played it for any meaningful amount of time but the first 2.5 hours of this game absolutely cook. Feels fantastic, would highly recommend.

Too buggy, multiplayer currently doesn't work. Refunding it.

Maybe Aspyr will turn it around in a few months and I'll pick it up on sale.

The state that this game currently exists in is a crime. Under the massive amount of technical problems and questionable gameplay decisions is what might be the best Star Wars game of all time. Game badly needs a proper HD remaster, remake, something more than just supporting higher resolutions.

While I marked no on "Do you recommend this game?", if you have a tolerance for lots of troubleshooting, playing through sections you just played through because the game randomly softlocked itself (Save often boys), then it is absolutely worth playing. I'd say play the switch version if that's somehow less buggy, but the plans to update it with TSLRCM were canned, so it's no good.

Game good but it doesn't work at all. Random memory leaks that tank my framerate make the game nearly unplayable. Wait for a sale.

I love Johnny so much bros

Don't go in thinking he'll be anything like +R or Xrd Johnny, because he isn't. No coin, no unblockables, no on demand plus frames, mist cancel is less than a shadow of it's former self. Somehow he's still fun and manages to still feel like Johnny. Remains to be seen how strong he'll end up being. Probably stronger than vanilla Accent Core and weaker than Xrd lmfao

SEE THE EDIT AT THE BOTTOM

I went through TDA 00 in one sitting. While the plot is cool and the TDA story itself is good, I have gigantic complaints about every other aspect of the release.

For starters, the options menu is incredibly sparse. This wouldn't be so awful if every other Muv Luv game didn't have a much fuller, more robust options menu. Unfortunately for TDA, the options available are a mere few volume sliders and some other setting that doesn't appear to do much. I cannot fullscreen my game from the options menu at the time of writing, nor can I turn off specific character voices like in previous Muv Luv installments, or change the game language to Japanese.

Second of all, the game will not boot in Japanese. At all. There's no in game setting to change the language, and attempting to go into Steam's properties menu to make the game boot in Japanese only boots the game in English. I tried this with TDA 01 as well to the same result.

Lastly, I have serious objections to the pricing. Had the game launched in functioning order I would not be writing this review and I would have simply accepted that age just wants a little more money from it's audience, fine. Unfortunately the game just straight up costs more than buying the entire original trilogy, all for a release that is simply worse.

I'll change my score if my objections are addressed, I assume the issue with the game not booting in Japanese will be solved soonish, but as it stands, I strongly recommend that you do not purchase this expensive, botched release.

EDIT: Well, the majority of points were addressed. The game is still rather expensive and the release was still pretty bad to start with, but it's now an acceptable and playable release. I'll only barely recommend it on account of the extremely high price, but it is now a good and functional product. I'll leave up the old review for the sake of completeness, but most of it no longer applies.
