I've been following this game since it was announced at an E3 years ago. I prepaid/ordered my vanilla copy the week of the first beta. I then played both betas and, after the second one ended, pre-purchased the Season Pass DLC.

On release day, and the weeks following I probably played about 4-6 hours a night. I had a couple of friends that picked up the game and we finished the story missions together and leveled up to 30 within a few hours of eachother. The story missions are absolutely a blast - I have a near term goal of starting a second character just so that I can play through the vanilla storyline again. It really captured my imagination and getting to role play a survival game that is much more realistically possible gets me right on the verge of taking PTO days just to relax away from the daily real-life grind.

After reaching end game there WERE a lot of issues with how much grind the game had without much reward in the way of gear, weapons, or a sense of achievement. I was one of the people that left the game after spending 60 hours exploring every facet of the story mode because the new DLC wasn't out, the gear wasn't getting better, and PVP was filled with cheaters.

Now that Patch 1.4 is back I've given the game another shot, and have found myself looking forward to getting the kids in bed so that I can play again.

In three days I went from a Gear Score of 148 to the current capped gear score of 229. Even though I'll have to spend the next few weeks doing the daily missions and exploring the world tier NPCs to find my desired Gear Sets, I'm very much enjoying the quality of life improvments they made with Patch 1.4 and it is very rewarding to play for a few hours a night. I hope I can convince my buddies to get back on, or recruit new "Division Agents" to join me so that I can experience the DLC with my comrades instead of relying on the match making to gather a group.

EDIT: Patch 1.5 is out and I'm still playing a few nights a week. I've got a some additional friends playing and I've started my new character. Greatly looking forward to hitting the DLC together.
