I've had this game on my wishlist for a while and recently picked it up in a sale. It was recommended to me as I've played similar games. I can see/feel those similar games as I play.
I don't have all the recommended requirements (just an i5-4590, instead of an i7), but meet or exceed everything else. I play on High settings and, even though I'm not on Ultra the world, the details, still look awesome. Some NPC faces seem flat and not as realistic as the player character, but it's not a big deal. I haven't delved into fine tuning settings, just went with the defaults.

I haven't finished it yet but, from what I've experienced so far it's better than I expected. The combat is a bit awkward, for me, but I had the same problem in The Witcher 3. It takes a while to get used to, if you ever get used to it.
Overall the controls are easy to memorise, get the hang of. The usuals are there for movement and opening inventory/map. It's the little things I got stuck on - how to stop sitting on a stool, how to roll and how to walk instead of running around like a lunatic :-)

I love open world, non-linear games that don't hold your hand every step of the way (glaring at you Fallout 4, lol). Choices and consequences, what you choose (in dialogue, during quests, etc) has an effect on people and events around you.
I also like the fact that there are many times you just can't win every fight, beat every monster. Most times everything is better than you and will kill you. There's no shame in running away. I do a lot of running. I wonder if there's an achievement for that, lol. Unlike Elder Scrolls and Fallout those enemies won't chase you to the ends of the earth, which is great. They can lose interest. Many are easy to just avoid altogether.

There's so much to do, things to see and collect and places to explore. Preferably with a companion. Not for their personality or combat skills, but as a decoy, while I run away, or just stand over on this rock and try to help at my low level :-)
I usually prefer solo as companions in other games are more an annoyance and an obstacle. I've had a few 'moments' with two in this one, namely combat with people they shouldn't and, apart from running away, there's no way to tell them to stop attacking as it was just an accident.
The humans have opinions, likes and dislikes (just like Fallout 4) and react to your choices. The human companions I've met and travelled with are all hanging out at a campsite for now, as I finally picked up a different one. One who I wish I'd gotten earlier. At the start I wished we could have a few at once, now, I'm glad we can only have one at a time.

For me the game feels like The Witcher 3 (so much to do, a lot of quests and side-quests, collectables, combat), Fallout 3 & NV (dialogue choices, those choices based on your skills, small details in the world), Skyrim (large open world, similar types of people). Many things I like in games and always look for.

Having a blast so far, it's a great game. I'm glad I bought it :-)

Not a bad little game. Different from what I usually play, easy and quite fun :-)

Having played other Fallouts this one isn't what I expected in a Fallout game. Some things yes, some parts no.
It's not my ideal Fallout game, but it has kept me entertained for a while, so there must be something about it that makes me play it more than anything else in my library :-)

Unfortunately I had to get it refunded as it just plain didn't work. Couldn't get past the main menu, as there was nothing except the background image. Very few solutions offered but none worked for me.
(If there was a Neutral option I'd pick that, rather than No)

Edit 2024: Since upgrading to Windows 11 last year (was previously on 7) I've had no problems with this game on Game Pass for PC. It's one of my favourite games.

My last Civ was Civ 2. I'm glad I finally caught up and bought this one. Having a blast, it's just as much fun as Civ 2 back in the day :-)
