Creepy, moody, intriguing, atmospheric, and at times outright terrifying. These are the words I'd use to describe this masterpiece of a game. From its eerie visuals that often make you question if what you're seeing is real, to its phenomenal sound design that will raise the hairs on the back of your neck and make you jump at every little noise, Amnesia is a clear example of survival horror done right. At no point are you given any traditional weapons to fight your pursuers; the only thing you have in your arsenal is your own wit and cunning as a player. Since fighting back is not an option, your only recourse is to hide, lest the abominations that seek you catch up to you and ruin your day. But running and hiding aren't the only features this game has -- it is rich with many puzzles that will offer some challenge but do not require a great deal of knowledge outside of what the game provides you in order to solve them. From the time of its release to even the time at which I'm writing this, Amnesia is considered a true classic in the survival horror genre. If you're willing to brave the depths of Castle Brennenburg and all of its horrific denizens lurking inside, then this game may very well be for you.
