While not perfect, the demo for Project Borealis does show potential albeit there's a bit to talk about, both good and bad.

Initially when first playing through it, just launching it for the first time had me excited like a child, seeing a rather faithful recreation of Source's iconic VGUI. Just simply clicking through stuff and seeing how it looks and feels was nice and left me rather happy.

As for the demo itself, that's where things become mixed. Visually, it looks pretty and the mechanics despite not being 1:1 (far from it) are somewhat there. The performance however leaves a lot, like a lot to desire. I know I don't have a gaming powerhouse (and others have already complained about it a hundred times) but no matter what settings you turn down, the framerate just doesn't get all that much better. Like yeah, at times it will but that's just because there's not a lot being rendered.

Animations are also another topic for discussion, for the most part they're serviceable but they could use refinement. Some though are downright silly especially the Gravity Gun. In general, they're okay but as I've said before - they could use some improvement.

Gameplay-wise, the game does try its best to mimic what Half-Life 2 feels like but like everything else you can feel it fall somewhat short of that. Movement feels a bit iffy and the feedback you get from dealing with enemies is rather lackluster, although everything does feel responsive enough that it's not a complete deal breaker.

Overall, the demo for Project Borealis is a flawed but fun short little experience. That being said, I remain hopeful and look forward to seeing the release product being way more refined and smoother than what the demo might otherwise imply.

For those who just want to jump into action and make amends after 4 hours, this mod is just for you. Also there's a cool easter egg Vortigaunt that smokes pot so the mod is instant 10/10.

- has miat
- very immersive, literally watch your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ struggle against any decent car
- the cops will call out your skill issue if you hit a wall
- goofy ahh characters and story
- has people on streets
- certain traffic car honks sound like they're from gta san andreas
- one of the glass shattering sounds it's almost like it's from a source engine game

cons:
- has denuvo (it eats fps)
- eeeeeyyyyy we want sum money
- not enough miat, need more miat
- electronic craps didnt cough up premium for toyota license (no soupra 0/10 worst game ever)
- brake to drift (i just want to grip for god's sake)
- the game was published by EA
- meh soundtrack
- the cops at highest heat level are absurd

a stubborn nfs mw 2005 worshipper would never recommend this game but i will, just make sure to buy it on sale like any other video game

can't run on 1050 ti, will recommend to family and everyone.

Throw toilets at people, have awesome battles and most important of all try to find a server. That's Half-Life 2 Deathmatch for you.

One thing I don't know why, it doesn't even matter how hard you try.

Despite it's flaws and the fact it's barely any sort of a remaster, it's still better than Grand Theft Auto Trilogy Definitive Edition.
