Astrologaster is a beautiful combination of History, Humour and Humours were you play as the obscure historical figure: The astrologer, occultist and herbalist Simon Forman. The game uses a very unique paper-pop up style which will please those with an eye for aesthetics, and a wonderfully composed and sung soundtrack of Elizabethan madrigals to fill the cutscenes.

The game is fantastically written - playing Astrologaster took me back to the feelings I had watching classic British sitcoms such as Blackadder and the Young Ones for the first time.

Think of this as Blackadder the game.

Seriously, pick this up already.

My journey into this game began a month or so before it was even released and back when I was in University. A housemate of mine charged into my office (I call it that but it was a 2m x 4m bedroom in reality), with a copy of the necronomicon in hand and eyes wider than a man on opiates. He loaded up the trailer for this game and said:

"play it."

"Well it's not out yet so i'll have to get in contact with..." I tried to explain. But he ever determined simply interupted again with,

"play it."

I realise now that this unwavering fervour was most likely down to a spell cast on my housemate by the developers. But I digress, you're hear to read what I thought. Or at least what I think I thought, who knows - I too might be influenced by an unseen force.

Cultist Simulator will break you. Mentally and Spiritually - If you let it. There is no tutorial, there is only failure. That is until you open yourself to the teachings of the Mansus and truely become enlightened. The lack of tutorial is actually a narrative device, unvailing the archetypal theme of the game - Learning. This game is an experience, simple to play but difficult to master. If you aren't pacient with it, you will never true experience it.

Cultist Simulator brings the world of the Occult to us in a new format that H.P Lovecraft would be proud of. Hell, I'd even wager he'd die again to play it.

I've put 32 hours into this game, I'm yet to complete it and I'm yet to finish learning. I hope that feeling never stops. Well done Weather Factory. Well done.

Wow, Boy do I like the concept of this game! With the mix of a TD Survival game and Spore Creature, Niche poses as a really intuitive. A light strategy game, that looks like it could bring hours and hours of Fun.

"I've been secretly hoping to play this game for a while and its been sitting in my wishlist. I think its certain too that I'm going to be playing a fair bit more. It has the survival elements of games such as 'This War of Mine' but takes a lighter approach that feels smoother. furthermore as you saw there was very little handholding. I know you can't judge Indie development too hard but compared to some of the other games of the genre i've reviewed or tested; This one felt a bit slap-dash in creation. Maybe some fixes will sort this

This is game would definitely suit mobile devices and feels like a mobile port but it's fun and upbeat music swung my argument to decide this would be a good cheap game to have on your computer for young kids who want to get into gaming.
