Works wonderfully with Ubuntu, when using the compatibility tool Proton. Almost as fluently as in Windows.

The story is main selling point of the game for me. It has some replay value, since you can make different choices throughout the game.

Map is awfully cluttered, which takes some time and prioritization to get used to.

Level-scaling could be little better, at least with lower leveled quests, if you want to do them afterwards. There is in-game option to scale opponents up to player level. I encountered swarm of rats, which were level 15 instead of intended level 1.

Map is little too cluttered IMO.

Works well with both keyboard + mouse, and with controller.

Fun game, fantastic story, runs well on Ubuntu, and only some minor issues.

First of all, the game's anti-cheat system doesn't allow Linux-systems at all. I've not dared to try it with Proton because of this claim. Especially since I did buy an expansion to the game. While I played the game on a Windows machine, I still couldn't recommend the game.

The game's server load balancing seems to be a mess. Populated areas took ages to load. This was an issue since only place you could retrieve most valuable quests, were only in one place. And you usually had to retrieve quests several times in one play-session. I talked with my clan, and the issue seems to have been with the game for several expansions. I cannot tell if developers didn't care, or this was technical limitation of the game-engine. The issue being there for so long time, gave off feelings of mistrust.
There is no genuine progression. You are meant to start at the beginning of the end-game. All of your items start at quite high level, and most of item rarities mean nothing from the start. All of your skills are available from beginning. This did however mean that you're not locked out of most of the content because of new player being too low level. The game didn't feel rewarding to me.

Payment model of the game is strange. You can play older parts of the game free of charge, so I do encourage anyone to try it if the game sounds interesting. Any moment in time you can either buy the latest expansion, or optionally buy the season pass. Even if you DO buy the expansion, there are some events which are only for players with season pass. At the time of writing the "VIP"-events were some public events' rewards, and some bounties (bounties are daily/weekly quests), and I saw no worth in purchasing those.

One thing which other games should really implement too, is that during loading screens, you could still interact with your inventory, skills, view skills and so on. I do believe that this was a must, since there is quite a lot of loading screens in the game. Still, I would like to see such feature at somewhere else.

As a new player, or being part of "new light", I felt I was cut out of a lot of story. It is the biggest downer for me: characters and cutscenes are cut off from the game from previous expansions. The game did hint that I should do the older quests, but I was all the time asking "why am I here", or "Why should I care of this character". Old areas and quests are still there, but I felt that they were meaningless without context given by story and cut-scenes. This led badly to the expansion: I still felt that I don't know what is going on.

Since older expansions are free, I believe it is worth a try. In its current state I cannot recommend to spend any money in to the game.

One of the most frustrating games I've played.

Game mechanics are not the fault. Biggest issues are visibility and camera.

Color scheme is making enemies and/or interactable objects hard to notice at times.
Dangerous surfaces have weird hitboxes.

With split-screen multiplayer, camera is everywhere else besides where you would want it to be. For example: camera centers in manner where screen covers 60% of area, which is unrelated to current puzzle and where no players are found. Most of the times the camera zooms in manner in which navigating a puzzle is really hard.

In this game wizard's mechanics revolve around using cursor to levitate objects, and create new objects by drawing them. As an idea it is fun to mess around, but the issue arises from how camera behaves. The cursor which wizard uses is centered on basis of camera. This makes drawing new objects frustrating. For example you're trying to draw a square, and suddenly camera moves. Game then assumes you were trying to draw a line.

I would say that game has unique and fun mechanics and offers fun ways to interact with environment. The experience would be enjoyable without camera- and color-scheme issues.

With split-screen multuplayer the Triene 1 is a frustrating experience, but could offer entertainment as single player or online multiplayer. (I do not know how camera behaves in online multiplayer)

A game I return to time and time again :)

Modding works well, and there should be several guides on how to do modding in Youtube.

Even at (most) times the game is challenging to point of frustration, DS3 is extremely rewarding. I've enjoyed it on every playthrough.

Most of all, I enjoy the challenging aspect of the game.
Character building and item variety is interesting, This offers many ways to progress through the game.
Even if the DS world is dark and gloomy, it is really pretty.
Two cons I do have:
- the story is not told in traditional manner. Instead of direct narrative approach, story is more presented in flavor texts, and with the state of your surroundings. The story is still really confusing to me.
- the game is not too enjoyable to backseat. Especially if the spectator has no experience with the game. This games from the fact that you will run same corridors over and over again, to give another try to a boss

This game most likely will frustrate you, but does offer rewarding feeling of mastery. Hopefully you have the patience to see the game through :)

I enjoy using the controller. It is a nice hybrid between controller and mouse-keyboard combination. It fits well for casual games, which are supposed to be played with keyboard and mouse. Playing controller games with Steam Controller, controlling the game feels way more free and fluid. There is two issues which are why I can not yet recommend Steam controller.

Steam Controller has no drivers outside Steam Big Picture
(Please notice EDIT at the bottom)
This means I can not use my customizations on my Steam Controller outside Steam Big screen. To play games I need to start Big Screen. As for now, Steam Big Screen drains quite a lot of my computer's resources. This can cause performance issues with newer games. Even the game would be a Steam game, Stean controller would require starting Big Screen.
Second issue raised by lack of enviroment free drivers is met when I want to play games outside Steam. Using Steam controller with games outside Steam may, or may not work since official support is not given to non-Steam games with Steam Controller.

Steam Controller may have issues with in-home streaming
The purpouse I bought the controller for, was to use it in my living-room setup with in-home streaming. I have had few times a problem, where host computer's Steam crashes when in-home streaming is started while using Stream Controller. For now I got such issues fixed by activating Steam Beta Updates. This should not be the case when using Steam's own release version clients, and Steam's own controller.

EDIT: I was corrected on Steam Big Picture being a requirement for using the controller. It can be disabled. I still do find it limiting that Steam is this controller's requirement.
EDIT2: Most of the functions do work without Big Picture. But for example right touchpad's touch-menu functionality does not, which might limit configurations in some games.
