Look, can I just be real with you for a moment?

GenMat is a zero-sum game - we need it, everybody needs it, and it's either us or them. We can harvest it, but so can they, so what I need you to do is go out, find GenMat sites, and loot them. Bring back as much material as you can get your hot little post-apocalyptic hands on.

Of course, they're not going to make it easy for you - GenMat is the most valuable substance remaining on this planet, and if you're smart, you're going to fortify your source with walls, traps, and guards. We can do some upgrades on your gear, but for the most part, you're going to have to rely on intuition and quick thinking to get you into the center of their base. Don't worry about it if you die a couple times along the way - we can just build you a new body. Plenty of mutant material laying around for that.

Our own source of GenMat needs to be similarly protected, so I'm going to need you to design a whole gauntlet of deadly devices to surround the source. Harvey the harvester can pick his way through without triggering anything, but other players trying to raid our fortress should be hosed. We can upgrade your traps too, and give you some big beefy dudes walking around with blades on their arms, and little waspy dudes that fly and shoot homing bolts - that sort of thing.

Build up your own base. Raid other people's bases. And you know what? If you liked it, give them a nice rating. Let them know it was fun, or artistic, or particularly brutal. Hopefully they'll return the favour. Just because we live in the charred husk of civilization doesn't mean we can't be civilized.

I know I look like a big ugly science experiment in a bacta tank, but trust me bro, I've got your back. Oh and next time you manage to scavenge enough materials to upgrade me, come hit the big red button next to my aquarium, it really helps me out.

Even though we don't really play the same types of games, you are my only Steam friend, and for that alone I am grateful.
