Whenever the world has got me down or a little high strung, I take a deep breath and play a game or two of Dorfromantik. It has a way of bringing me back down to Earth. There's some strategy, there's some progression, but don't sweat it, man! You're here to chill and build a cozy continent!

I'm pretty sure I play this game wrong and like a big ol dummy but damn those little bite-size random battles are just so fun! The UI and microtransactions intimidate me to the point where I'm terrified to engage with them so I think that's actually a plus. I wouldn't know what to buy even if I wanted to!

As long as I can blow people up from miles away while hiding in a bush I'm having a blast for the price of: free

Not sure what the ♥♥♥♥ I just played lmao but I think I liked it.

Bought this because I saw it had like 70+ items in the points shop or something huge like that and I thought the art style was neat. Played 20 minutes, got like 30 achievements.

After a tiny bit of research I guess this is based on a meme of some Russian version of Treasure Isle from the 80s. Alrighty!

I'm not sure if the controls are more than just WASD to move and the left mouse to shoot, the items you pick up may or may not be able to used whenever you want... seemingly when the game feels like it, oh also character speed seems to depend completely on the BPM of the soundtrack, which sounds very grimy and Slavic. Neat!

It's like a buck what have you got to lose?

Sleeper hit of 2023 for sure.

The gameplay loops are perfectly crafted to make you go "just one more haul" about a thousand times over. The exploration is thrilling due to the mix of extremely chill days and terrifying nights as you and your little boat putter about the map.

Someone somehow made a game that has blended the traveling from Wind Waker, the action mini games from Undertale, and the puzzle aspect of RE4's inventory into one of the best games of 2023. An achievement in it's own right given how messy that sounds on paper!

Looks like theres more content by way of DLC now. I have yet to play that.

The depth, the immersion, the adventure!

Caves of Qud is easily my favorite Roguelike now. After picking it up 4 or 5 days ago I'm now sitting at over 24 hours of playtime and I've barely scraped the ozone of this game, let alone the surface.

I've come back to this game quite a few times over the years and I think my play time reflects how fun I find it. I really adore the IDEA of this game but jeez it just doesn't work out for me in practice. The setting and tasks seem so uninspired and bare bones. The monsters were alarming at first and the designs are serviceable but I found the scare factor wears off after the first or second attempt.

I wish Steam had a review option between "recommended" and "not recommended" but I'm gonna have to thumbs down this one. Maybe it will be better in Monstrum 2

On one hand I really enjoy the encounters and settings, on the other hand its an entire BG adventure in the modern Beamdog writing style that I feel is at odds with the AD&D setting and feel.
Whereas BGEE only had bursts of the newer, weaker writing here and there, which are night and day different in every way possible from the original("Erm, that JUST happened!" level ♥♥♥♥), Siege is constantly battering you with it. By the end of it too I was wracking my brain trying to figure out why anything other than the last few minutes was pivotal to BG2.

An unnecessary content pack that you can take or leave.

As a guy who collected GPK cards in 4th grade this game is amazing!
Feels like unearthing a hidden gem from the 80's at a game stand at the swapmeet.
Emulates the NES difficulty well without being cruel or unfair. They nailed the tone of the cards too!

This game needs more eyes on it!

Chop Goblins insists it's small but it's in fact HUGE for FPS games! I genuinely hope this opens the door for more short-yet-deep FPS for years to come! Got an idea thats only got legs for an hour or 2? PULL A CHOP GOBLINS!

Another Dave-Dazzler from the Duskerdoo himself!

After meaning to play this game for... let's see... 12 YEARS!? I finally decided to give it a go on December 1st of 2022(lol). Costume Quest is basically a classic JRPG for beginners and fans of the genre that can enjoy it being satirized and refitted in a charming way. Random encounters are now knocking on a door to trick or treat with the treat being candy(gold) and the trick being an enemy!

The combat is borderline mind-numbingly easy and the only time you'll ever have to ever-so-gently use your brain will be for the bosses, which there are few of. Luckily the game is short enough to be completed(I got 100% in the main campaign without trying to) in a sitting so the cons don't have too much time to overstay their welcome. What really keeps everything together is the masterclass Double Fine wit. Just as good as it's always been! If only this had voice acting!

If you have played endless turn based RPGS you know exactly how this goes and depending on how burned out you are you'll either find this refreshing or a stale experience you can beat in a handful of hours. If you have a young kid who's interested in RPGs I think this would be a phenomenal place to start them on their downward spiral journey!

Goes without saying that this is firing on all cylinders with the Halloween theme and I'm now looking forward to it becoming a yearly title for me around that season!
