Updated review:
The dev has since updated the game to 1.1 and it has addressed the problems I initially had! I feel comfortable recommending this now! I understand a bit more what the devs intentions are with this game and applaud their multiple efforts to come to a middle ground with some of the balance decisions. The Guts enemies I had an issue with have been promoted to sub-boss enemies now and are still threatening without being overwhelming.

I also just wanna once again touch on just how gorgeous this pixel art is!

Pre Update 1.1 Review:
Heartbreaking to say this since I love the art and vibe of this game so much but it's just a complete mess balance-wise. Lvl 6 has been a wall for me and it's because of the Guts knockoff enemies who can literally melt your health down before the level's boss even shows up.

Let me reiterate: these are REGULAR enemies who swarm you by the dozen. They spawn randomly in front and back of you and the hit detection on their swords is also odd feeling. They claim to have "nerfed" this level twice now and I can see or feel no real change to it.

If it was just me I wouldn't be making this, but if you check other reviews on Steam and the discussions section you will see all sorts of people talking about... LEVEL 6. And that's not even including the beefs people have with Levels 4 and 10! This seems to be a recurring complaint about your game!!! HINT! HINT!

Vampire Survivors is a good enough model in and of itself to use with your IP guys, there is absolutely no need to add this grinding to it with borked balancing like this. We want to play your game.

One of the most "Videogame-ass Videogames" I've ever played. And we like those round here!

Pure unadulterated FUN that feels incredible to control and proudly wears it's influences and offbeat humor on it's sleeve!

Who knew the next big platformer mascot was a wee toy taxi?

I legitimately feel so guilty playing this for free.
This is so fantastic and you can feel the love pouring out of it! Instead of just being a carbon copy homage to ancient CRPGs it takes all of the good stuff and smooths out the rougher edges. Games like this don't come along very often and they certainly don't come along for free.

Really hard to pin this down but I think we got ourselves some sort of outsider art masterpiece on our hands.

This game is so many things at once and it's hard to figure out how much of the magic is by design or just by the planets of surrealism aligning just right, but that's also part of it's allure. One could not be blamed for passing by this and writing it off as one of many RPGmaker trip-fests that were farted out in a weekend by some anime and video game obsessed memesters. But you'd be wrong!

I firmly believe on some level it started out as "that game". You know the one. The one you and your pal brainstormed in a notebook after getting jazzed up on a tower of discounted shasta sodas at 4am. The game that would have it all. It would be a JRPG with an epic storyline,a gigantic world that weaves in and out of itself like a big maze, cards to collect, monster bounties, references to the best media we know, characters with EDGE, spells that give enemies CANCER! Youthful Kitchen Sink Design Philosophy, baybee!!!

But here's the thing: what if you actually went through with making that game? And as you continued to build on it you got older, more life experience, exposed to new ideas. And that entire time you were still adding to, and updating your passion project; And what if it was shaping up to be it's own jaggedly shaped gem?

Wooden Ocean might be that. Or I might just be talking a load of Murda.

Give it a chance though. Or at the very least check out the video by Worm Girl that introduced me to this.

Endlessly replayable and addicting to the point where I'm getting worried.

I'm not joking: I might have to uninstall this soon due to how much its consuming my free time

Definitely buy this!! (But BEWARE)

PROS: You can play MTG whenever you want, Drafting, 1v1 EDH with less life total, Planeswalkers as Commanders if you want, and weird Alchemy BS: Historic Brawl! Now just called Brawl for some reason.

CONS: You have to play MTG Arena

If only we could combine the breadth of features of MTGO with the UI and speed of Arena. Unfortunately I don't think the powers that be will ever understand how profitable that could be to them.

Paper is king at the end of the day, go out to your LGS if you can!

A BotW-lite structured in bite sized mission chunks where the goal is to find DQ related treasure and upgrade you gang as much as possible! Once again Dragon Quest nails the casual yet addictive formula. It isn't rewriting the book on anything it's doing here, but I'll be damned if it isn't fun and cozy to play.
