Stop reading reviews. It's doom. Just purchase it and shut up. Play it in the glorious 240p resolution it was made with and enjoy the fact that the mouse sensitivity is awful. Welcome to the original DOOM

You could get Zandronum to play it too but I mean, it's doom.
