Thank You

Let me start by saying "Thank You", to all those involved in delivering this game, you should all be proud of yourselves. The story, the unique interpretation of the world, the atmosphere, demonstrate your commitment, that you poured your soul into this one.

Actual Review

In this game you will play as Aloy, a curious young female who's been outcast by her tribe and finds shelter to another outcast, Rost, who will serve as her mentor and protector. After a big event, Aloy embarks into an adventure to find more about her origins and the truths of the world.
In the quest for truth, Aloy will have to face malicious humans and machines, with a spear and a bow as her main weapons. Some enemies may be too strong to face head-on, so Aloy will have to think of ways to wear out her enemies, before landing the finishing blow. As the story progresses, Aloy will be adding more situational weapons into her arsenal, that will add more depth into her combat ability.
During her journey, Aloy will have to make some choices, to show empathy (heart), be rational (brain) or aggressive (fist) in a situation. Her choices shape some responses, but no achievement or completion related events hinge upon particular options.

At the time of the review, I have completed the main game, along with the DLC ('The Frozen Wilds'), which is already included and does not need to be purchased separately.

This game is recommended for people that enjoy Action-Adventure games, and want to experience a unique interpretation of how the world may look in the distant future, accompanied by a fantastic story telling.

Tips

1. Do not enter the DLC zone (the snowy area in the north-east corner of the map) before having met a certain character named Sylens in person
2. You need to explicitly finish a NG+ run on Ultra Hard to unlock the achievements:
- New Game+ Completed
- Ultra Hard Completed
- All achievements obtained
so play whichever difficulty you fancy for the first run (I'd recommend Normal)
3. Always scan the area around you to find any possible secrets / items, they will be handy
4. Even though the Side Quests, the Errands and the additional content from the DLC are not required to complete the main story, they have helped me to get a better grasp of the world Aloy is surviving in
5. In case you play on Linux, use Proton Experimental, in my 80 hours gameplay, I didn't have a single issue

I'm not crying, I've just got something in my eye... 🥲 If you think that a game cannot make you cry, then you haven't played Ori and the Blind Forest, yet.

Fantastic game, tight controls, great story, beautiful environment!

The game is actually challenging, so I'd recommend to play it on Normal difficulty for you first run.

Note: When you press the 'Start' button, you can see how many times you died. Don't get frustrated if you die frequently, I died 529 before I completed the game.

This is a game that everyone should have in their library. I cannot wait to get my hands on the sequel Ori and the Will of the Wisps.

Fan service done right. In this game you get to experience the whole Dragon Ball Z story. You get to play with different characters where each one of them has a unique set of attacks. To complete all the achievements, you are not required to purchase the DLCs. I recommend this game to those that are fans of the franchise or to people that would like to experience the Dragon Ball Z story without reading the manga or watching the anime. It would be nice if Bandai would release a similar game for the original Dragon Ball (kid Goku) as well.

This game is an interactive One Piece adventure written by Eiichiro Oda himself (the original author of One Piece). Recommended for people that are into Adventure games and / or One Piece fans.

The art style is surreal and brimming with color and personality. One of the best looking indie games around.
Gameplay
8.5
Tight and responsive controls.

Transistor (the sword) can freeze time and initiate a planning mode called Turn() for queuing abilities called functions—digital souls absorbed by the Transistor.

You have four active abilities - or to use Transistor's terminology, functions - you can use against your enemies at any one time, which you can switch out between fights at access points that are scattered around the maps.

Functions can also be placed into upgrade sub-slots to strengthen specific active functions or they can be placed into passive slots, where they will confer traits like boosted health.

Defeat in combat won't initially lead to your death. Instead, it will remove the function you've been relying on the most and keep it out of rotation for a while. It's a simple but startling penalty, forcing you away from a favoured load-out and back to experimentation.
Music
10.0
The music itself is outstanding and remains in my head well after I've put the controller down... along with Logan Cunningham's excellent voice acting (Transistor’s voice and soul) is what makes Transistor the game it is.
Story
8.5
A gripping storyline, which rather than giving you everything from the start, you get thrown into an unknown world with little known about the end of the game and the path that leads to it.

Spoiler alert:
You play as Red, a gifted and popular musician living in the futuristic city of Cloudbank. The game begins dramatically, with Red pulling a giant sword - the Transistor - from the body of a man on a rooftop. The Transistor isn't just a regular weapon, though; it has a personality and a voice, and it quickly becomes Red's partner. Red’s beautiful singing voice was stolen by the affluent city leaders known as the Camerata. This group has unleashed The Process - a collective of robot-like entities that proceed to take over Cloudbank City in their hunt for Red and the Transistor.
Length
5.0
The game is short, it takes around 7 hours to complete the Main story with most of the challenges completed and every character profile unlocked. Upon completition, you will get access to New Game+ mode so you could do a second playthrough and find/unlock whatever you missed on your first playthrough. It takes around 14 hours to complete the game 100%.

Summary:

Transistor, is the perfect sci-fi action RPG that excels in drawing you into its mysterious world. It will enthrall you with its blend of real-team strategic combat and fascinating story. Much like Supergiant’s Games previous game, Bastion, Transistor offers a gorgeous isometric artstyle that looks both like a classic game but also really futuristic at the same time. As beautiful and evocative as the visuals in Transistor are, it's the game's use of music and voice acting that set it apart aesthetically.

Simple, yet cute and beautiful.
Gameplay
8.0
You are controlling two little toons Hate and Love. Hate likes to push things away. Love on the other hand drags things close to him. You use this combo to make your way across the levels to press the Big Red Button.

Controls are simple yet annoying sometimes since clicks can be misread causing characters to move where you don't want.
Music
N/A
Beside the two toons, Love and Hate, that say “I love you” and I “hate you” respectively there’s no music involved in this game.
Story
N/A
There’s no story.
Length

The game is really short, it takes around 4 hours to complete 100%.

Summary:

There are two little guys, Love, that makes other things move towards it and Hate who pushes things away. You use their abilities to pass through a level with the objective of pressing the Red Button.

The visual style is nice for a puzzle game. There is no story or timer and you can't die, but you can get stuck, and then you will have to restart the level or undo your last moves.

I suggest you buy this game on sales, it’s a nice time killer for its price.

The Swapper is a game that people should play. It's a very peculiar game with an excellent gameplay and an extremely interesting plot. The game still stands out as one of the most creative and forward-thinking indie releases in recent memory.

LIMBO’s dark and cold world is made up only with black, white and some kind of mist in the background. Your hero is just a silhouette with just a couple of white eyes. It's amazing that such a simple approach can create such an eerie atmosphere.
Gameplay
8.5
The physics are spot-on perfection and the game controls great with a gamepad. Keyboard is not recommended, because the keyboard controls even though they are functional, they are mapped to the arrow buttons and are not customizable, which might frustrate some of the players.

Now, you play as an unnamed young boy who walks from left to right, jumping over obstacles as they appear, trying to avoid deadly dangers while solving puzzles involving crates and levers.

The puzzles are quite engaging and in later occasions, quite deadly if you are not cautious. You will most likely die many, many times to pass some of the puzzles.

LIMBO has a trail-and error style playing system for it, so once you die you will be spawned back to the place you were before dying and will have a chance to try again.
Music
8.5
Music is nearly non-existent which really enhances the incredible array of sound effects, mostly environmental with sounds of nature and manmade mechanics. When you start hearing something that sounds like a song, it is an indication that something special is about to happen. This whole package accompanies the dark artstyle of the game.
Story
N/A
There’s no story.

Spoiler alert:
The boy’s task? To find his sister.
Length
5.0
The game is short, it takes around 3-4 hours to complete to complete the main story. You’ll most likely need a second or more playthroughs to unlock all the achievements, although it is possible to complete the game 100% on a single playthrough, if you follow a guide. It takes 7-10 hours to complete the game 100%.

Summary:

You play as an unnamed young boy where the goal, let’s say, is to get from one end of the screen to the other without dying. In your journey you will have to solve a various set of puzzles, with some of them being quite unforgiving and challenging.

The dark artstyle combined with the ambient sounds/music, are perfect in creating the vibe and drawing you in emotionally.

LIMBO is a short, yet wonderful dark experience.
