A good game. But not enough to be a great game.

I'll talk about the bad part first:
-The combat mechanic is boring. Fighting has the same strategy no matter which enemy you're against. It doesn't help that the game has like 3 types of enemies or whatever. It's really not a very important part of the game, because it's easy, but sometimes spamming attacks against tanky enemies is also boring that you die for being careless. It's really not worth talking about.
-Music. Apparently, this game has a released soundtrack! I checked it out and it sounds decent, but for the love of god, I feel like I only hear some part of them. Most of the time I spent in the game, I hear no such music, it's mostly animals sound chipping in the forest. There has to be something wrong with this game mixing for music, it rarely ever happens or it's too small to notice.
-Control. It's tight enough but there are some frustrating bugs & weird interaction with those grapple things.
-Story. Almost none existent, yes I know there are some but I feel no obligation to be engaged. It's trying to go for a wordless world without any text. But the result made the world seems alien and hard to feel empathetic for them, there are 2 characters (the main and the robot) and the third one you barely interact with. The world feels like it just exists without giving anything interesting to grasp, it's not like it makes that much sense considering everything is kinda weird. The characters also just exist.

The goods:
-Map building. Very cool dynamic maps that change based on your interaction, the game looks like an open world but it's very linear until almost the end. It makes you want to hug the map designer and smack the combat mechanic designer. They might probably be the same person.
-Set pieces. They have area with with simple puzzles and some light platforming. That's it, that's the whole game, it's a pretty easy game. But they did it pretty well so I'm content, even though it's a bit repetitive towards the end. But it combines great with the world map.

It's still a good game, but I talked about the bad things more because this game would have more potential to be one of the great indies game, but it missed out.

One of the best games I've ever played, not just puzzle/detective games but a really excellent game that is picturesque, well written, well design, unique with a crazy good sound track and art style.

Also Martin is a chad sigma male.

I could tolerate the characters look like they have Down syndrome but the gameplay tortured me much more so than the art style. It's a Dark Souls 2D clone, a bad clone, mind you. But while Dark Souls seems mostly fair and after every death you feel like you learn something, I got nothing from this game after death because they don't feel justified. The traps do not despawn and you have to remember it, and it instakills you. The mobs are annoying to deal with, and you have to deal with them because it's hard to avoid them. The maps are uninspired and boring and does not give you the feeling of adventurous or curiosity at all. You will get lost because you are not clear where to go, everything feels the same while Dark Souls somehow pretty clear about where it wants you to go, and the fact that the maps are super confusing does not help. Fighting mechanic is not fun. Death penalty is not fun. If you want to play a side-scrolling Dark Souls-esque game, just buy Hollow Knight.
