Super well tuned and engrossing roguelike that does a great job of always making you feel like you're making meaningful progress after every run. Also, Dusa is the best and deserves all the gifts.

DUNKYPUNG is one tricky game. One of those ones that makes you wanna keep trying again. All you've gotta do is avoid the obstacles that pop up as you bouce around the play field. It's kinda like a mashing of Pong, Snake and Super Meat Boy. Has the one more go-ness of Super Hexagon. You control the whole thing by just tapping a button to make Dunkypung bounce. The arc of the jump and drop is always predictable and all the spikes and buzzsaws appear with a few seconds warning so you've got enough time to judge your path. This leads to the game being tough as nails but failing never really feels like it was down to bad luck, despite the randomisation of the obstacles. Well worth giving a try. Don't be put off by how few levels there are. You'll likely be putting in some hours before you unlock them all.

OK. So this is a football simulation and I went and played a few other football sims (Pele, Super Kick Off, ISS Deluxe and the like) and they seem to have a few different rules. Thing is, they weren't as fun as behold the Kickmen... well ISS Deluxe almost was but that's partially because you can turn the umpire into a dog. Anyway, I've come to the conclusion that all the other games weren't simulating football correctly because there's no way the sport could be that boring. Behold the Kickmen depicts football as being fun, kicking, running, more kicking and all that... so This must be the best football game by default.

You can't turn the umpire into a dog though which is a little disappointing. He does give you a kiss for doing a goal though and the dog in ISS Deluxe did nothing of a sort.

Played this back in it's early demo and it was tough and maybe slightly unfair. Since then it's been tweaked a load to maintain that toughness but also be a lot more fair. There's a cool core concept with it's mashing of Missile Command's premise with a turn based strategic card game as the base of its gameplay. Really cool dirty sounding chiptunes too. Quite recommended.

A pretty casual Strategy RPG that's overflowing with love for Power Rangers style henshin based fun. Has a crazy meta narrative and a really nice smooth progression. Not too challenging either. All it needs is a new game plus mode, which is, apparently, coming soon.

This game is one hell of a blast to play. It's got a little Metal Slug, a little Blaster Master and the enemy intensity of a good twin stick shooter like Assault Android Cactus or Geometry Wars. Has a solid challenge and is constantly intense but frequent checkpoints mean it never gets too hard to make progress. Harsh but fair. RIVE is quite a gem.

Sat down to play this for a video yesterday. Quite enjoyed it. Decided I'd play a little more when said video was uploaded. Jumped back on at about midnight. At 3AM I was still playing fully obsessed with the cycle of producing games of varying scale with increasingly silly names. My FPS based on the book Flowers for Algernon was the biggest hit of the year.

Game Corp DX is very simple. It isn't the flashiest looking game int he world. Its mechanics are not the most deep. But it is easy to pick up, involves a decent level of strategy and is a lot of fun. There's a Theme Hospital vibe I get from it with its sense of humour and the general feeling of it all. A lot of the strategy comes from space management and timing the launches of projects and completion of training. It's all about spinning a lot of plates to get the best game made that you can.

Also you can hire Gabe N and there's an achievement for releasing Half-Life 3.

Sucha frantic and enjoyable twin stick shooter. Not enjoyed one this much since Geometry Wars. Has some nice elements of bullet hell shooters in the enemy attack patterns which helps offer up a fairly strong challenge. A whole bunch of bonus modes and co-op is a blast.

Also... PINEAPPLE!

UPDATE: Since the most recent update at the start of September the game has been a lot better to play and now features a few options for graphical settings that really should have been there from the start. The game itself is pretty great, not groundbreaking, but really enjoyable. So changing this review to a positive

It should be noted that Batman Arkham Knight, when it works, is really bloody good. There are issues with some elements of gameplay and story, like batmobile controls being slightly unintuitive, but generally the game is great.

It's the performance though. It's messy as hell, dropping seemingly whenever anything new needs to load. Textures fail to load fully frequently. Action sequences can be fine one minute but a near identical one minutes later will hit you with just a handful of frames per second. framerate capped at 30. No high quality textures (Which makes me think a HD texture pack is planned, although God help your PC if it is), although texture quality when it does actually load is pretty good at that normal setting. No in menu options to switch of motion blur, chromatic aberration of depth of field blurring. No AA options beyond off and on.

I had issues with previous WB games performance but there's always been options to switch that had an actual visible effect. Shadow of Mordor had plenty of graphics options. This is massively lacking there. When the game works well, and th etextures load, and the framerate keeps up, it's gorgeous. Good luck seeing that for more than 3 minutes at a time without a crazy powerful set up though.

Until this is patched into a workable state, assuming it will be, I say hold off. Or even get the console version, as filthy of me as it is to suggest such a thing. It will actually work. If they ever make this workable I'll try to remember to rewrite this review to reflect that.
