Inzwischen günstig im Angebot erhältlich und wird immer noch weiterentwickelt. Bestes Spiel dieser Art. Schade, dass das steam Inventar aufgegeben wurde. Jetzt muss ich das Spiel starten, um meine Sachen zu sehen.

This is no game for me. It is worse than cleaning in real live as the game is only satisfied if it is 100% clean. In real life I can clean until it is good enough for me. That means really clean, but then I feel I have accomplished more than in this game. Perhaps an achievement for cleaning every level would motivate me, but still not being able to enjoy the game. Perhaps the problem is not listening to something while cleaning. So that the cleaning just keeps me busy while listening to some podcast or so. I do not know. I prefer driving a truck.

Läuft einwandfrei unmodizifiert auf dem Steam Deck (Deskop Mode). Proton ist für alte Spiele ein Segen!

Es gibt viele Sprachen zur Auswahl. Auf Deutsch ist es leider nicht die Originalversion, sondern die überarbeitete zensierte "Generäle" mit Stilblüten wie IGB im Text und "GBA" im Ton (+Soundeffekt).

Ich werde mir jetzt nicht die Mühe machen und prüfen, ob auch Einheiten fehlen bzw. zu einer rollenden Tonne geworden sind. Text und Ton (sowie Intro) sind jedenfalls ausgetauscht. Das Intro ist jedoch vorhanden und nicht ersatzlos gestrichen, wie Wikipedia angibt. Vielleicht gibt es auch noch weitere nicht mehr vorhandene Umsetzungen? Mich stört jedoch die Vercyborgung der Tonspur. Wobei es mir nicht ganz so krass zu sein scheint, wie damals. Die Missionsziele klingen gut.

Die englische Version ist das Original. Wäre super wenn die Deutsche "Generals"-Version auch noch offiziell ergänzt würde. Das deutsche Generals-Intro wird zumindest abgespielt.

Verrückt, wie ich damals die Grafik beeindruckend fand und heute... Wird Zeit für ein gutes Remake. Damals lies das Spiel hervorragend auf schwachen Rechnern!

For now I do not recommend this Definitive Edition (DE) of Vice City. I love the original way too much. The visual art style is changed which impacts the atmosphere. This makes me sad.

But what really bothered me while playing for a bit: The car and (even worse) the motorcycle handling! They feel like driving much faster, like RC cars and movement of the car to the sides is less visible, damage is also different (what about car windows with "spider web apps"? :D
I directly started the original game on the Steam Deck. It runs out of the box with an older Proton Version and reduced mouse sensitivity + custom controller settings. Or just connect a mouse and keyboard... Or install mods to improve the experience (and resolution).
What can I say: Indeed, the driving in the original version is exactly like I remembered: Very good, giving me a warm and nice feeling. Driving a motorcycle is really nice, but challenging in comparison to a car.
Now, in the DE it feels more like RC cars and just not as perfectly nice as in the original.
Higher resolution textures are very nice. But take care: many are even replaced and not just upscaled, text got changed (longer, shorter, mistakes). But yeah. In general sharp textures look better. But for me the gameplay and story is more important. And the original (with settings / mods) is just perfect.

Oh, and the police. Either these are bug or they changed their behaviour: I crashed into police cars so many times and never got an reaction. Only for stealing cars or crashing into people. But not for crashing into other cars, neither police cars at high speed. The original is different. Crashing into a police car makes them chase you. Is that intentious? To make it easier?

I'll play the DE because of the achievements. The reason why I bought the DE Trilogy. So I might update this review later on and perhaps I find enough reasons to change it from a thumbs down to a thumbs up. For now, I prefer the original so much more. Perhaps it's best to play it on a PS2.

Something else very positive is that the game (like all the other DE versions) supports now more languages. That is really nice! Thanks for that! :)

BTW: I would love to have GTA: VCS and LCS as an DE on PC. This feels like a mobile port anyway.^^
I think I prefer playing all these DE on mobile devices, like the steam deck.

San Andreas has always been the GTA 3D game I liked the least. I liked the beginning, but later on I did not like the micro managing of not loosing muscles, health, etc. pp. ... and the huge world. I got lost sometimes.
I liked the first part, though. My hood. And little Las Vegas. Fighting for hoods was nice, but repetitive. And annoying if your had to defend it or get your district back.

So, I just started the game. I do not have much nostalgia for it. It runs on Steam Deck (nice!), but sometimes the controls (press A) did not work as intended or the movement animation was even faster and weirder than in the original (getting thrown out of the car and getting up). Might be a shuttering issue on the deck. So yeah, this game needs more resources than the original. But gladly no more modding.

I like the graphical improvements and I am already curious to see Little Las Vegas again. I'll update this review. ;)

Why I also like this game: It has achievements! ;)

This is a hard one. The first impression is, that this version is more playable than the original one. Especially on mobile devices like the Steam Deck. No modding required.
On the other hand, there seem to be some glitches. The voice acting volume needs to be adjusted to be on the same level as in the original. Animations are sometimes weird, too fast, shuttering. Might be because of the steam deck, idk.
Driving works fine, but is different from the original. More accessible, I would say. Ok, the PS2 version was nice to drive.
The overall coloring is different from the original. It is way less dark. Like in the Definitive Edition (DE) of GTA IV. Such a shame.

I'll update the review in the future. The first impression is still more positive than negative. For purists, the modded original version might be better. Changed colors, textures (images)... Nostalgia. And of course: The DE shutters and needs much more resources for not too much improvement, from my point of view.

BUT: Finally achievements! That is the main reason to buy it an play it again. It's been a while. :D

I enjoyed playing this game a lot. After two years, I returned for some multiplayer and contract achievements as the game will be removed from all stores and only continue (mostly) in Hitman 3 (to be renamed).

I think you should consider buying Hitman 1 or 2 as these games support non european spanish and portuguese. Hitman 3 does not! Just in case you want to train these languages or they are your mother tongue. Audio is always available in English only. I'm talking about subtitles and UI elements here.

Finally, 18 years later, I finished this game. I did not expect such a nice ending. Although I found the final fight easier than many other parts of the game. I hope the remake will come to Steam, too. With Steam achievements. And modern controls, so that jumping is more fun.

Wahnsinn! Erst nach 6 Stunden Spielzeit wurde die erste Errungenschaft freigeschaltet! Nämlich nachdem der fantastische und wahnsinnig (!) interessante Charakter der Figur des Akiyama gebührend Respekt gezollt wurde. Es folgt die nächste spielbare Figur und ein Gefängnisausbruch. Die Planung hat direkt Lust auf mehr gemacht. Ich sehe mich schon das Spiel mehrfach durchspielen. Auf jeden Fall bin ich von der Erzählweise und Geschichte bisher begeistert.

Die Kämpfe sind anspruchsvoll. Wem eher die Story interessiert, sollte ggf. auf einen niedrigeren Schwierigkeitsgrad zurückgreifen, wobei dies angeboten wird, wenn man zu oft scheitert. Zum Freischalten des höchsten Schwierigkeitsgrades muss das Spiel jedoch erstmal auf dem von Beginn höchsten verfügbaren Schwierigkeitsgrad komplett durchgespielt werden.

Englischkenntnisse sind zum Spielen zwingend notwendig - oder alternativ japanisch. Anders als bei Sleeping Dogs gibt es keine deutschen Untertitel oder englische Audiofassung.

Good first impressions gameplay wise. But the advertised "Steam achievements" (see store page) do not exist (yet?). I cannot recommend a game with false advertisement on its store page and missing Steam integration features that the complete editon has.

Spielerisch hat es bisher einen guten Eindruck gemacht. Beim Rumrennen im Schnee hat sich leider das Spiel einmal verabschiedet, daher der perfekte Zeitpunkt einen Ersteindruck als Rezension zu verfassen:

Stand 26.12.2020 lügt Rockstar Games mit der Angabe von "Steam-Errungenschaften". Es sind nur Social Club Errungenschaften vorhanden, keine in Steam. Ich hoffe, die werden nachgeliefert. Dann passe ich auch gerne meine Rezension an. Aber ich bin hier auf Steam und möchte die auf der Shopseite versprochenenen Steam-Errungenschaften.
