👾 Cats and the Other Lives (🇹🇷 2022)

All the members get together at the family house after the dead of the patriarch. They’ll deal with their issues while the family history is unraveling through the eyes of the family cat. Heavy on narrative and low on gameplay, it feels like an atypical visual novel with gorgeous pixel art.

👾 Venba (🇨🇦 2023)

Cooking is the excuse for this narrative driven game about second generation immigrants from India and the struggles of cultural identity. It’s well paced and can be enjoyed in one sitting.

👾 Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge. Special Edition. (🇺🇸 1991/2010)

Another staple of the golden age of graphic adventures. Puzzles are challenging and the writing is silly and funny in a good way. The ending is not everybody’s cup of tea though.

👾 The Last Campfire (🇬🇧 2020)

An enjoyable trip across a realm where you have to save the souls of its cute inhabitants by solving clever and not so punishing puzzles.

👾 Neverending Nightmares (🇺🇸 2014)

Under the peculiar art style, lies a dark and gruesome story. The gameplay is quite simple and repetitive but it genuinely made me feel anxious and scared thanks to a brilliant sound design.

👾 すみれの空 (🇯🇵 2021)

“Sumire” is a cozy short narrative driven adventure about grief and faulty relationships. The story is nice and simple enough but it’s the beautiful art style and lovely soundtrack the main reason to stick to it.

👾 Alice Madness Returns (🇨🇳 2011)

Second instalment of American McGee’s dark turn of Lewis Carroll’s work. It’s a good action platformer and each of the levels is wonderfully creepy in a different way, but they are unnecessarily elongated.

👾 Fable Anniversary (🇬🇧 2004/2014)

Short and very simple RPG with fairy tale elements. It oozes charm and, in my case, nostalgia kicked in because I played the original version back in the 00s. I love the aesthetics, the music and the voice acting filled with so many British accents. It’s so easy (mostly) that it could be considered a cozy game.

👾 The Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition (🇺🇸 1990/2009)

Biased opinion here since it’s my favourite graphic adventure of all time. The special edition gives a great facelift to the classic and the brilliant writing never gets old. It should be in a museum.

👾 Resident Evil Remaster (🇯🇵 2002/2014)

Finally I got to beat the first game. The camera angles are annoying and the dialogue writing is terrible, yet it is so good creating a sublime and chilling atmosphere. This version makes it more easy and accessible to new players despite the insane density of puzzles. Definitely it deserves its place on game history.
