Absolutely wonderful little space game with a healthy dose of physics, where death is just one wrong maneuver away, and even the slight bumps add up quickly. Fun to play here and there or long-term, with a huge portion of the rings ready to dive into.

Development is ongoing and their discord is quite active and friendly, with the dev quite responsive :D

A nice, atmospheric walking simulator, about two hours long. There's no words- but it doesn't need any. Just you, the ambience of an empty world and the melancholic music accompanying it, and a partner.

Your partners are all players, but you don't know who they are and unless you catch them collapsing into dust, you might not notice it's not the same partner, unless you're paying attention to the symbol they chime- each one is different.

I actually managed the last segment alone as my partner had collapsed into dust, which may have made it harder than it was meant to be, and while the cinematics portray two people making the trek, having to do it alone was actually sort of fitting, I think.

The only way to see historically accurate battles such as the New Zealand-Mexican Bob Semple tank naval invasion of Kabul, the complete domination of North America by the Canadian Communist Party, and the heroic and meteoric invasion of the Third Reich by a combined Swedish-Swiss army.

"You are about to inhabit a broken mind. Not everything you hear or see is trustworthy."

From the opening to the end, this game is drop-dead beautiful, well worth the very modest price. It is a pure walking simulator with narration, no puzzles, just walking and narration, relevant to your current location or some event that happens. The visuals are absolutely stunning, very fitting and with lots of detail in the background, making this game an absolute amazing time to take screenshots in certain locations.

For 2-3 hours, you can exist in a completely different world in a way no AAA title can ever hope to convey, alone, in a dead, decaying world, with nothing but your and your broken, half-rambling thoughts to keep you company. There are so many questions I want to ask about the past and present of the setting, and of the character too. The game answers very little of them, but that somehow seems... fitting. You're a broken man, in a broken world, possibly the last one alive. Your past, present and future don't matter much, all that's left is just to recount what was important to you, be reminded of this and that for the last time, and maybe take a leap of faith. Maybe you'll go to some magical place... or maybe the madness will finally stop.

Buyer beware: This game does not hold your hand. In fact, it kicks you in the nuts before you even begin. There are zero meaningful tutorials. There are only combat tutorials, and docking aldn takeoff tutorials, none of which are remotelyu seful for one simplereason:

Elite does not, at any point, give you a basic control tutorial.

Instead, it redirects you to some half-assed control videos, which are not used in more games for several critial reasons, one of them being that they are unhelpful as we do not benefit from muscle memory and repeatability of testing to get a feel for the game.

It also expects you to know how to dock from the get=go. I am currently doing the docking tutorial and am about to rip my hair out at the utter stupidity of it. Why a spacefaring race does not have auto-dock BUILT IN to their navigation systems simply is astounding. Furthermore, the default controls are some of the worst I have seen in years, making Battlefield's jet controls seem like totally sane by comparison to a flight simmer.

Don't get me wrong. it has astounding visuals, even if they're in development, and the game holds a lot of promise. But honestly, this should have had more than just a tutorial demo. It should not have been released without interactive control tutorials, and the demo should contain at least one scripted 'campaign' that could simply be a series of tutorials, so people can get a feel for the game and not have to worry about feeling it up within the first two hours in order to judge if they need a refund or not.

Seriously, Frontier. Tutorials. Please do not neglect the most basic of concepts known to gaming. And waypoints. For f*ck's sake, give me a waypoint to my docking station and pad. And I don't mean on the nav console, I mean, on-screen, on-border bloody waypoint. I'm semi-okay with live-world targets such as nav waypoints not showing up on borders (another fairly basic concept, and since we have a HUD, I'm astounded at the lack of bordered waypoints. For combat, sure, fine, makes it more difficult, I'm okay with that. But for basic navagation? No. No excuse.)

Finally, I'd like to see tutorials for being Interdicted. Played the game half-baked to see the learning curve, was heavily appalled. Interdicted within fifteen minutes with no inkling on what the ♥♥♥♥ it was or how to properly escape. Do I need to continually re-orient? Boost? Frame shift activate at the escape vector?

I'll be keeping this one, if only because SC isn't due until next year, and I probably will play it in conjunction- each has their own appeal- but this game is basically the DCS of the sci-fi genre, except with less-than-useful tutorials.

Got on after a long hiatus when I saw the coop update. It's as people say- real fun and real frightening for the first few times. Absolutely no indstruction given, took a few rounds to understand what I was doing but after that it was hella fun!

DIS GAME. Started days after it went into Open Beta, was stable as if it were a Final Version commercial release. Absolutely wonderful to play with friends, although the objective fun in it is in setting your sights on a new Warframe and working towards it. With 13 frames, there's a lot of work ahead for you to keep you busy, and it doesn't require too much money to get you those 11 extra slots!

2020 Edit: Loving the absolute salt mine that is people dogpiling on DE for daring to support equality. Really showing the community who's harbouring very problematic rhetoric!

Continue to do your thing, [DE], and we'll have another seven awesome years.

Every year doesn't have to be jam packed. Every year doesn't have to outdo the last. It's very nice that FOMO is largely circumvented by event weapons and mods trickling into the permanent modes. And it's very nice that some updates are more laid back, where you can step away without feeling like you're missing out on too much, to wait for the next update or two, to have a nice large checklist of things to catch up on. [DE] has made a game that doesn't demand your attention 24/7. Exactly the kind of game all F2P games should aspire to be. It can be put down and resumed a year later without an issue.
