so decided after a few years to change this info. the reason is to put out a psa to all who dont know yet, but no one should EVER click a link a friend sent them to "vote for their csgo team" or anything such, if they can send you a link in steam, they can provide you details on the site, and you should google it and see if its a legit site. any site that requires login from valve unless its said in voice probably isn't going to be nice. assuming you click on one of these links and gods forbid you log in on you, you can AND PROBABLY WILL! lose your steam account, get a vac ban, have mass friends removed, and also possibly have skins and such taken. you cannot recover lost skins and such, you cant just undo friend removals without the other person knowing. so final message, please stop clicking on sketchy links. if it has a url thats not a .com, .co, ect. its probably fake to begin with and even then check anyways.
