Extremely fun gameplay with lots of expression of skill in both movement and shooting. Like Severed Steel, you can be quite creative in how you approach combat and perform some awesome feats, but instead everything happens at 200km/h. The board and grapple are a great combo and give a great feeling of freedom.

Exploration is interesting and it's fun to try and reach far away places in unusual ways.

I only wish there was more of it, i.e. challenges and progression systems. I 100%'d it and still want more. The dev has mentioned a possibility of a new game+ mode that would address this, so hopefully there's more to play with in the future.

If you want to play with guns in VR, this literally the best option. Guns behave realistically and are a joy to simply reload. Each firearm is filled with detail and requires understanding to properly interact with.

It's more appropriate to call this a gun simulator than anything else. The rest of the game is there to give you an excuse to use the firearms and the excuses sure are fun. There's the primary wave hold game mode where you need to adapt to whatever firearms are spawned. There's a zombie gamemode where you need to count shots and reload magazines in preparation. There's a little testing arena that spawns fighting bots that you can go nuts in. Any way you want to test out a firearm is available.

I've had hours of fun just shooting the range as well. Like any simulator, if you're in to them; the fun is trying work out how things are meant to work. Few VR games come close to making plain range shooting fun.

H3VR has been consistently updated since it's release, adding 100s of new guns and half a dozen new gamemodes over that time. I I vote this game for labour of love each year. It could've been released as 1.0 ages ago by this point.

I can't recommend this enough if you have an interest in firearms and a VR headset.

A great game held back by terrible AI and a lack of thought in a few areas. I'm leaving a negative review as the devs aren't responding to criticism about the suspect AI for ages and have seemly made no progress on them since the "release".

The AI is terribly implemented and barebones. It has been balanced by giving them superhuman response times, incredible accuracy while moving and aggressive behaviour when it doesn't make sense. If the AI had human reaction times and accuracy the game would be rather easy because there's no deeper interaction the AI can do.

Issues I'd want addressed before changing this review to a glowing positive.
  • AI ignore concealment and can see you clearly through bushes.
  • The AI will wallbang you. A youtuber (McDewgout) suggested that this is because the AI's understanding of your last known location is stuck to the player, meaning if the AI sees you once they know where you are until their state changes.
  • The AI can go from weapon down to headshot in literally 200ms. In a game where you're supposed to follow rules of engagement and identify targets, this is impossible. Most people have sight reaction time of 200-250ms, not including aiming time.
  • Penetration is highly inconsistent. The AI can shoot through concrete and your 7.62x51 round can't go through some glass surfaces.
  • The player damage model is unclear. Deaths are often unexpected and heavy armour only slightly mitigates this. I think a lot of deaths might be taking too many shots to a limb rather than a chest or headshot (limbs aren't armoured)
  • The animations of the AI are terrible for identifying if they're a threat or not and the reaction time of the AI doesn't accommodate for the animations. You'll see SWAT AI seemingly execute a surrendered suspect because they could see the animation of pulling a gun start when you couldn't.
  • During MP, grenades can get stuck in your hand and you can't throw grenades for the rest of the match.

Since this game is a 1.0 release now, it's no longer tolerable to be in this state. The commander mode is an afterthought and basically pointless and the scoring system is barely thought out at all.

It's a shame because it's so close to being amazing with excellent gun-play, fun tools and tense realistic combat, held back by seemingly stupid things.

GRIP is a ton of fun to play. The cars feel like they have serious momentum behind them and the combat gets wonderfully chaotic. Even if you're not that into combat (like I am), the game is still very enjoyable to play as a standard racer or in time trials. Driving is just that fun in this game.

A recent update significantly improved how the vehicles handled and streamlined the tracks so you spend more time on the track than flying backwards over it.

If you're into faster/futuristic racers such as Redout, I'd recommend GRIP for a different take on the same basic "Go super fast" concept.

Excellent AG racing with driving physics that make you feel like you're actually handling a high speed hovercraft rather than a car without wheels. Probably the best sense of speed I've had in a racing game. Redout rewards track familiarization, drifting through corners and boosting where others might slow down.

Note, the focus is on the racing, not combat. If you want combat, check out GRIP or BallisticNG. Redout does racing/time trial very well and the game feels perfect without combat. High speed and insane tracks makes for a great experience.

I recommend the base game at full price but wait for a significant discount for all the DLC.

I must admit I don't like the abstract style here. Everything is an abstract colorful shape and it makes all the tracks look the same.

Part of what I enjoyed about Redout was the scenery and seeing a bit of machinery or a building whiz past you at 1000kmh gave the game a great sense of scale & speed. Without the concept of Vertex being a real place, it feels something is missing and detracts from the scale.

I found the music middling and prefer the other zone's stronger beats.

There's no desire to replay any of the Vertex tracks for me, I'd much rather play one of the previous zones which all have better music, layout & style.

I just hit 1000 hours in this game. At minimum wage that would translate to around $15 - 20k.
Totally worth it.

I didn't like it initially and only picked it up again later when I ran out of games but I'm glad I did. The game looks pretty simple but there is a lot to learn when it comes to taking down zeds in a quicker or more efficient manner, especially at the higher difficulties. I'm still trying to master new techniques...

The game may seem hard or boring at first but once you learn the basics and find a difficulty you like, the game really opens up and is a real blast.

Downside is that it is becoming quite dated with poor AI, somewhat sub-par graphics and lacking in some of the polish you see in newer games. Killing Floor 2 is coming out which should bring this old game up to speed if you aren't sold on Killing Floor 1.

Ultra fast gameplay, unforgiving violence, 80's vibe and a surreal story all merge together to form Hotline Miami. The game's atmosphere is unique and heavy and the gameplay addictive. This is one of the only games to make me feel disgusted at the death and pain I've brought as the character. All the violence of the game world seeps out into reality and touches your core, and it's awesome...

Hotline Miami will give you
-Pulsating soundtrack
-Fast run 'n' gun predatory stealth gameplay
-Abstract story
-Surreal atmosphere/asthetics
-80's vibe
-Gratifiying violence
-A challenge

I would highly recommend this even if you find yourself put off by the screens. So much of the game cannot be conveyed by looking at screenshots and watching videos, it needs to be played to be fully experienced.
