Where to start with this? If you played the old PayDay, which I highly reccommend you do, then you should try this one out too. However, it is slightly different from the first one, in which all maps used to be focused on one approach and it was more about surviving waves of police enforcers. It's a bit different here in which all objectives are made much clearer and that there's a bigger focus on stuff you need to do, instead of just drilling a door for 2 minutes, then moving on. Here, there's loads of different things you need to do, like getting into banks, robbing stores, stealing paintings, stealing weapons, cooking meth and so on.

Each heist is different, but PayDay 2 lacks major heists, and as of now only has around 4 or 5. PayDay 2 also focuses on a more realistic approach compared to PayDay 1. Don't get me wrong, there's still hordes of police and SWAT coming for you, but they seem to deal more damage, think about smarter and won't die as easily. There are also returning special SWAT, like the Shield, Taser and Bulldozer, but there is a severe lack of "The splinter cell guy", which is kinda odd considering he is in some ingame pictures.

There's also a bigger focus on stealth, and you can stealth around 50% of the missions now, instead of those very few from PayDay 1. Stealthing is a very good and functioning mechanic, and you often get a lot more out of stealthing than just gunning your way out of everything. They also fixed a lot with the skill/inventory system. Skill trees are now very thorough and makes more sense, and weapons are no longer connected with your skill tree, except for some exceptions like the saw.

Weapons are instead unlocked (early on) and can be bought via a store. Weapon mods, masks, colours and so forth is now mixed into a sort of drop system, in which you pick a card out of three and it randomly gives you an item. This system will get mixed ratings, and I treat it as inventive, but also restricting, cos all weapon mods you want to apply, you have to find first, and there's a lot of weapon mods you may want. You will therefore often find yourself doing the shortest heists to get more weapon mods and masks and such, which is not a good design choice. However, Overkill is doing a great job at trying to fix problems, add heists, weapons and masks and just making us happier in general. The graphics are varying from beautiful to kinda ugly. Try not to look too hard at textures and you will find the game much better looking, but it's not a triple A title, so I'm not expecting perfection.

As long as Overkill keeps adding GOOD heists and fix more issues, not that there are many left (it's mostly the drop system, so maybe try adding a sort of trading system with it? You know like TF2 and so forth.), and keep looking out for this game, I think this is a good long term investment. As it is it's a great game, maybe even GOTY for PC, but I expect more quality heists in the future, and as long as we see this coming, I highly recommend this.

Summary: Great gunplay, good heists and good replayability, only game of it's kind on the market, sure to give you loads of thrills and as long as you have some friends to play this with, you will not regret buying this, especially for the low price it's currently at. If you don't have friends, do not play with bots, they are comparable with L4D, which is a quite similar game actually...
