Bought this about 3 years ago and give or take 90% of my game time was in single player either cheat-spamming or experimenting with mods. If that single player experience is what you're into, this has always been the go-to sandbox to mess around with numbers, playermodels, NPCs and all that shiz. There are easy to use mod managers and such for beginners and the modding curve isn't too ridiculous. Story's not too hot nowadays but its a time eater as is.

As for the fabled online experience, it's hands-down the most sluggish multiplayer I have ever seen. Only recently have I been able to use it as more of my steam friends have the game in their library as well and we simply decided to put our heads together. If one is attempting to try the multiplayer be prepared for the slowest loading times you will ever see. Even with an SSD, great WiFi, and other high-end factors; you will still find your self in a loading screen staring at the heavens of Los Santos in a gamble if you're able to join your friends session or not. Speaking of which, online is genuinely better with friends.
