I like this game, quite a lot actually. I think the zones, gimmicks, and overall innovations this game adds makes it a solid and worthwhile entry into the franchise.

BUT, I cannot in good conscious, recommend buying this game full price. As I said at the start, I really like this game, but it is not worth the full price. This game is very flawed, ESPECIALLY in the bosses in the late-game, they are such massive pace breakers and if you are not prepared, get ready for a lot of deaths that feel incredibly unfair and cheap.

If you absolutely love Sonic, especially Classic Sonic and you are easily willing to overlook the bad, I recommend this but only when it's on sale. It's worth $30 USD max, anymore than that is absurd.

If you are not a Sonic fan or want this to be your first Sonic game, it's not worth it. There are better starting points for the series, like Origins (Damn you SEGA for de-listing the original games off Steam) and Mania, or Generations and Frontiers for the 3D installments.

My final score of this game is an 8/10, if the price of this game lowers with time, I will change this review to a positive one.

Update #1: Trip's story was insufferable, my review score of this game is now a 7/10. Worst final boss in the entire franchise.

Update #2: Last story is very short, just one boss, however this boss is thankfully much more enjoyable, and my score for this game is back to an 8/10

I now understand what drug addiction is like

The core gameplay itself I have zero issues with, but literally every other aspect of this game ESPECIALLY the monetization schemes, and Blizzard falling short of their promise for a PvE mode is why I am giving this a negative review.

It's really upsetting to see Blizzard smear all of their beloved IPs with their own fecal matter, and it's even more upsetting that Overwatch, which initially was free from this smearing, eventually succumbed due to Activision Blizzard's greed.

Do not give them a single penny, do not encourage them to do anymore disgusting practices like this. If you want to play the game for the core gameplay, that is fine.
