Although Blender has a very high learning curve (especially understanding the UI at the beginning is hard), it's just amazing what this progam can offer!
It is not just a 3d modeling program, rather it is a spectacular allrounder in multiple ways.
You can quite achieve some photorealistic results, but programs as Cinema 4d or others are still better on that point, but in comparison: Blender is a FULLY free and open sorce application, meanwhile e.g. a copy of Cinema 4d Studio (R19) is listed for more than 3,000€!
Except of a few little bucks and the high learning curve, one can not complain about Blender at all! I can only recommend it :)
