Why even bother listing a Linux version of the game when it doesn't have version parity with any other versions completely breaking multiplayer? Thanks for wasting several hours of time trying to get this game thats worse than its predecessors to work and ruining a multiplayer night.

it hurts to leave a negative review for this game, but I feel cheated.
There are 4 classes in this game, but if you make the mistake of choosing a mage, you will have wasted dozens and dozens of hours just to be out DPS'd by every other class by an order of magnitude with weapons of the same tier.
On top of this, mage is the only class with an actual limit to how much they can fire. Mana drains extremely quickly in most situations forcing you to chug mana potions that temporarily decrease your damage. No other class has this restriction. Even rangers get access to the endless musket pouch as soon as they enter hardmode, giving them infinite ammo. (Which was barely a problem to begin with since ammo can stack up to 9999)
The highest DPS weapons for mage only reach their full damage output for a few seconds before running out of mana. Meanwhile every other class will be dealing damage indefinitely with no breaks or limits, and doing far more damage than the mage ever could.
The Zenith is just another slap in the face. Even without a melee build, it can outdamage almost every magic weapon in the game.
Let that sink in. A mage can wield a melee weapon and deal higher and more consistent damage than actually using a magic weapon their class and build is based around.
This isn't even unique to the Zenith, many other melee, ranger, and summoner weapons throughout the game deal more damage than magic weapons of the same tier, all without mana restrictions.

After so many runs of only running ranger builds, I decided to give mage a try, and I regret it. I feel like I have wasted over a dozen hours for no reason.
It really does hurt to leave a negative review, after all of the genuine fun and enjoyment I've gotten out of this game over the years, but my most recent run had the fun completely sucked out of it because Relogic hates magic users and has a blatant bias towards melee builds.
I am going to leave this review up for as long as mage is a unusable waste of time.

One of the closest games to an actual "Star trek ship sim" there is, me and my friends have put many hours into this game and gotten lots of enjoyment out of it, especially from the ship to ship combat.

However I cannot recommend you buy this game, because it is wholly unfinished and never will be finished. The game is very barebones and only mostly functional. It is still very clunky and ground combat in particular is *very* clunky, despite how often the game makes you do it.
The developer have given up on properly polishing the game or fleshing out the dozens of completely empty levels, and view the game as already finished, with only minor bug fixes to come in the future.
Instead, they are more concerned with adding completely new unfinished campaigns rather than actually polish the existing main campaign or fleshing it out past the minimum.
For a game that was in early access for almost 8 years, it does not have much to show for it. Besides the campaign missions themselves it is nearly identical to what it was years ago.

I want to recommend this game, I really do. But it still feels like its in early access despite the devs treating it as a finished product. Its so close to being an amazing game, but the devs clearly have no vision for what the game should be, or see any problem with having gigantic levels with absolutely nothing in them.

Went into this with high expectations, was wholly disappointed.

The time travel mechanic is neat but critically underused.
The way it is implemented is rather simple as far as the Source engine itself goes but they somehow managed to mess up the normal portals in the process, as I found myself and cubes constantly clipping on the portals and struggled to get portals to appear in the correct placement on surfaces.

Level design is all over the place, while I wasn't expecting purely Valve-like levels, a number of them are just extremely poorly designed and quite amateurish, like something someone would make in their first time in the level editor.
Portal surface placement seems random at times and will throw you off of the solution to some chambers as the surfaces seem to have just been placed haphazardly around some of the levels.
One of the chambers outright has a portal surface with the wrong texture/broken lighting on a surface critical to solving the puzzle. Did not even realize it was a portal surface until I accidentally shot it, wasting a good amount of time.

Many of the chambers feel like (or outright are) reused normal Portal 2 community maps with the time portal part tacked on, they are just normal Portal 2 community chambers with one or two extra steps involving the time portal, typically just requiring an extra cube. The worst offender being the final 2 chambers which are just gimmicky puzzle maps with the time portal mechanic being used for an extra step or so,

I'm not sure what they did with the audio, but several chambers have extremely overbearing background ambiance that is very distracting (Constantly hearing something that sounds like a toilet flushing isn't what I want to hear in a puzzle game while trying to think)

Announcer quickly became annoying. After beating several of the first chambers, he will explain the mechanics of the game, but after the chamber where you already used those mechanics, being entirely redundant and over explanatory for something you already figured out.

Also the player model is just Chell with poorly recolored red hair and a blue jumpsuit lmao.

I feel like this could have been a very interesting if not outright great experience if it was executed correctly, but unfortunately this feels overall very poorly made and not very thought out.

I didn't think it was possible for the ending of a game to fill me with so much rage.
I decided to go with the Railroad since they're the only ones who showed care for synths which is a softspot for me.
I was not prepared for the sheer incompetence in game and story designed that followed.
Going in I was expecting something like Fallout 3s ending (aka makes no sense, poorly strung together)
What I got completely subverted my expectations in being one of the most nonsensical endings I have ever seen in a game.

The entire games story is literally just an insult to Fallout, openly retconning the older games both intentionally and by accident simply because they refuse to read a single bit of lore before they decided to smoke 3 kg of meth and write this story.

I hate this game. I hate Bethesda. NMA was right all along.

Inexcusably bad design in every facet.
Levels are laid out so that you intentionally get shot at from enemies you cannot see.
AI is garbage and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ at the same time. Sometimes you'll stand right in front of them and they wont react, and sometimes you will be behind them and they'll 180 in a split second and kill you when they shouldn't have even known you were there.
The first game had real challenge and if you ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up it was your fault. This games idea of "challenge" is to just make ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ levels with broken AI and spam down enemies as much as possible.
Complete joke of a game compared to the original. Story is good but the game itself is so bad compared to the first I don't even give a ♥♥♥♥ about the story.

One of the best and most well supported games for Linux now removing Linux support just because TIm Sweeney doesn't like Linux. Bought this game for its support that's now being taken away from me for no reason at all. ♥♥♥♥ Epic Games and ♥♥♥♥ Tim Sweeney

All the convenience it offers is destroyed by its issues

I bought this as apart of a bundle with DOOM for about $25 and even at that price I am considering refunding, Its mindblowing that they sell these for $50 regularly

>try to connect bluetooth controller
>fails 5 times, each time creating an error message window that wouldnt go away
>finally connects but error message window still there and I have to go all the way back to the main menu for it to go away

>controller disconnects during game
>have to exit game to reconnect it

>Doesn't autofocus to non-fullscreen games so have to go back to my computer and manually put it in focus

>half the time when exiting a game it would start displaying a random one of my monitors rather than the one with Steam Big Picture actually on it

>audio streaming for Linux currently just uses a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ workaround that isn't even mentioned officially anywhere so I had to figure out myself to get it to work becaused I had disabled the audio feedback loop it uses to stream audio

>when attemping to apply a controller config when starting a game without full controller support, it would fail to launch the first time, then not even apply the config, Retrying would seem to work most of the time

>After doing what I said above and exiting the game it would completely stop responding to inputs. Requiring me to go back to my computer and exit the controller config menu for me to be able to do anything on the Link

>Some games with perfect controller support simply ignored input from the Steam Link all together

>Link crashed 3 times during just navigation of the settings menus

Yeah, I might buy this for about $5, get tired of it after a day, then install Gentoo on it
