As nicely put together as this game is, it kinda went way below my expectations.

It is a very comfy game, you can kinda just lay there while playing, it doesnt ask too much effort out of you.
My main issue is mostly with what they give you, you get cards and such as spells and tools to use to defeat monsters, but most of those cards are consumable, and playing as a wizard i just had consistently 2 spells, so most of the time i felt like there wasn't that much interesting stuff to do, furthermore when you get a new card via the "level up" you don't get to choose it or choose from a group, you just get a random one, so by the RNG you could get really useful cards or very mid ones.

Furthermore after reaching the first boss, you realise that they spawn more units, that defend her, but that's not like "at half health for a phase transition" its whenever she wants, so your resources get drained greatly, and it kinda feels like a waste of time.. like we've already lost, theres two giant spiders, 5 small dudes, and a boss with 30+ hp and all i can cast is zap..

This game is kinda like a deck builder without the building aspect, just a deck..
Honestly i bet some people could enjoy this game much more than i am! But i feel like it's a little lacklustre, maybe at some point someone will mod the game to be more like what a player like me likes?

I bought the premium version by accident, but like thats fine the artbook is great and the ost is pretty cool too haha.

In terms of dlc content, i'm going to spoil some stuff but heres a short review.

A lot of side boss hitboxes kinda suck, like a dragon that does a tailswoop and hits you while you're above it midair and should be fine.
I love the green place, the ruins, but it also sucks, like its beautiful but out of this open world game i just felt both lost and stuck in a hallway? like sick design but could have been better.
Also electric dragon fight on water lake? i hated that personally.
I kinda expected more weapons haha, or at least more cool wacky effect weapons? Like In base game you just kinda stumble upon a guy with crazy sword of the golden order and stuff like that, and you just get it, you know?
But in the dlc i feel like the coolest weapon i got so far is the forge hammer haha, the dragon slayer great katana is nice aswell, but then thats kinda it?

Other than that everything is pretty nice haha! I'm done with it yet but i've been having a lot of fun!

I played a ton on blacksmith, the original launcher ever since it came to be free to play.
I can't stress how happy i am that this game went free to play, i finally got a reason to get people into playing it.
It wasn't a demo, it's not broken, you get 90% of the experience for free, and can play the game without buying it. And with how much i like it, i might buy the premium version, just like my friends did.
And before then you could only bring your looted loot in high-roller, but they're even working on this to make it so you can just get it inside the normal dungeon! They're actively experimenting and working on the game!!
Match making is still wip tho, so give them some time haha.

There is a few things i'd like to adress, especially in terms of balancing and some classes, those opinions are very biased, so don't take them to seriously, but i would love to see changes or offers :

-The bard class,
Compared to all classes, bard is just that guy that has a ton of conceptually cool spells (songs), bringing niche effects that classes like the wizard and others don't have, the problem is that a lot of the songs have the smallest bonuses, like 6% faster interaction speed or a song that's cool but lasts 2 - 3 seconds..
You also have to switch instruments a ton, which isn't the worst, but ends up being very clunky for not a lot of payoff.

I would personally prefer something that feels a little more like it's doing something, like when you heal as druid, you can see how much you're healing and how great your help is.
Bard in my opinion could benefit from songs stacking on top of each other and themselves.
So let's say you cast slow once, it wouldn't be a lot, but then if you spend more and more time in casting, the stronger it'll be until it's an effective and powerful weapon. Time not spent attacking = Time spent building up stronger and stronger debuffs (and others effects).

In the end i like the finess of the class, but it'd be nice to get it more consistent rather than a jack of all songs, master of none. Escpecially when you get songs that would work great in huge areas but then its just like directly around you haha.

-The druid class.
I love druid, and since i'm free to play, he's my main character, i've been loving being able to heal so consistently, and summoning a dude to help is very helpful.
But as wildshape got debuffed a bunch, i've been using it less and less in combat scenarios.

Now i have one main issue, why is there a second talent for more wildshape memory, when there's not more forms?? But theres not extra memory while there IS spells you could need more memory for!
I know it just released but i'd definitely like more talents to use with this guy and later on more spells, (more things to summon too, that'd be great).

Also it'd be cool for the treeant to have more agro priority, because since he's so slow, sometimes enemies just walk entirely past him and leaving him behind ^^;
It'd be cool to have more summons like a ranged one (hydra but less strong?), or a smaller one that helps, but doesn't get in the way.

I'd love to see more perks, maybe non class specific perks that let you use more items and such, i love perks, but sometimes i get 3 good ones and i can't find a perticularly good 4th one. And i'd love to use up one of my slots for maybe uhh, using throwing knives? Getting more intel?
I think the nice balancing for this would be "Hey you can do this, but way less good than the class that is a pro at this", or "Hey have a boost we couldn't fit to a specific class, its not huge and crazy but its nice and convenient". Let me know what you guys think haha.

My main issue with the game is that a lot of the buffs are like, have 3% more breathing and 6% more existence speed. Not a lot is very game changing, and it get that it's supposed to stack more and more, but sometimes it feels like its lacking a bit, like amulet of +1% buff duration? when my buffs last 3 second? Doest that add a single second of what??
Also like i tried out wizard and the impact of your spells feels all weird, like fireball looks big and mean but it does the damage of one sword swing. Meanwhile explosion has no impact but does more? Everything is a little weird haha.

Anyways, i cast open all doors in a 39 meter radius, let me know what you guys think in the comments i'd love to debate and discuss ideas.

As much as this game is nice, here's two things that bother me:

1. The devs don't balance the guns to make them feel better, the breaker shotgun was the most viable and fun weapon, it's effective, the rest of the primary weapons just don't pack a punch in this hoard shooter, and instead of BALANCING the lame weapons to a better stage and BALANCING the meta weapon to a middleground, they just nerf the best weapon and that's it.
Barely even a nerf, just reduce the number of bullets per mag, so you have to reload more often which is more of an annoyance than a nerf.. This game has so many BS moments, you just get stunlocked by enemies and instakilled by some, it feels like you have to be shooting 24/7.

Now don't get me wrong i don't want the game to be made easier, but when most of my deaths are just a painful experience of unfairness rather than ah "oh wow this is really tough and out of level", it makes me go quiet and wish i was done with it.

The game isn't bad but in it's current state i'll probably be taking a long break and wait for them to add new weapons and new things..

2. Play station network account, I sure do love making an account for a single game, especially when EVERY OTHER COMPANY DOES THE SAME RAHHH IM SO TIRED, I DONT CARE ABOUT XBOX, I DONT CARE ABOUT ALL OF THE OTHER ACCOUNTS IVE MADE, I JUST WANNA PLAY VIDEO GAME ON STEAM.

This is kinda like that other backroom puzzle game, its not bad but its not what i expected.
Performance tends to be okay, but the insanity effect kinda mess up the frame rate a bit.

Honestly, i just didn't expect this kind of game, i thought it'd be a little more uh liminal? Or at least atmosphere building?
If you want a backroom game more about that, try the complex.

Good game. Very nice looking.

BUT
I have a massive skill issue, as i really feel like i get locked into weapons, i came from rise's long sword and hunting horn.
I don't hate world's combat at all, but at the same time i would highly prefer it with some switch skills, I really loved that from rise, being able to change some parts of my combos and such.
Like in rise i can make an entire combo set about getting my spirit bar up safely and pleasantly, doing consistent damage but not doing any huge damage attacks, meanwhile my second set can be a higher damage but less consistent damage dealer, building up with my first set to deal big damage every so often with the second set? That i really liked and felt like i was mastering the weapon in my own way, or at least doing acceptable damage!

In world, (this is the skill issue part) It always feels the same, get 3spirit combos and then do helmbreaker and then charge it up again. I personally find it really hard to land roundslash in this game, usually being out of range or not having enough turnability. The monster usually hitting me out of the combo or moving away slightly (even worse getting knocked back too far away to make the entire combo pointless), And maybe after charging it all up, the monster just leaves, and then you lose a few bars and you have to charge up again.
Now i don't know if i'm doing something wrong, bad positioning or maybe i'm trying to attack the monster too much? But when i do the entire combo, exept round slash, and the monster hits me out of it or moves away, what could i have done? Rolled and just cancelled the combo? Sheathed and tried to do the weird counter (Still not entirely sure how to make that one work by the way so feel free to comment)?
I can't really predict where the monster will be and then do my combo in the means of hitting the last attack can i? I mean i've had moments where i've charged my spirit blade in dead bodies just to make sure it can get up so i get to use helmbreaker! (Is helmbreaker not worth it and i should just focus on normal hitting the monster??)
I mean when the monster is down or stunned i can hit a pretty reliable high damage infinite combo, but when he's doing things i just can't work it out!

In my skilless personal preference, i would totally like (and this is just to satisfy me, 1 fan, it doesn't mean that it should be that way because i said so) some sort of different move sets to choose and experiment with, maybe replacing roundslash with a thrust that has to be aimed well, but has longer range to poke out enemies with the end of the combo. I'd like sacred sheath from rise, Big damage wake up hit makes me feel like greatsword, even if its made hard to hit or something. I also miss drawn double slash :D
Honestly the monster hunter team can totally figure out better moves than i will ever think of, but please, i think it's very important to be able to have one weapon, yet multiple playstyles. It takes care of my skill issue with one weapon by letting me have a similar weapon but not entirely different, i don't want to play hammer with dual blades haha :p

sorry for the rant, comments are on

Edit to add tldr: Honestly i'm just salty over longsword, it's really better in rise. Without skills its all just helmbreaker.

This game is niche, it might not fit everyone and i suggest you do look into the store page carefully.

I personally really liked this, it was a bit of a slow start but once i got into it was much easier.
Not like too easy, more like pleasantly difficult, the endgame enemies are tough but you can prepare against them! There is a timer, but you can take your time!
I will spoil a lot in this review, so be aware, i'm just gonna share some tips that i found while playing.

Everything feels very expensive at the start, but raiding enemy drills can be very rewarding, the scrap station can help you get a lot of copper and gunpowder, so don't be afraid to make a lot of grenades!

Guns start off a little weak, but the shotgun is really strong and pretty cheap and in my opinion more effective than the melee weapons.

If you're playing solo, the drones are really helpful! Personally its one of my favorite features, i hope they make more stuff like that, i like my little drill buddies! They're very customisable and i think that giving them long range weapon provides great support, but sometimes they tend to attack enemy ships instead of just enemies (not always a bad thing).

Those are my main tips without saying anything game breaking, furthermore i'd like to say that i didn't have too many bugs or issues, the main two things that came in my way was little spikes of lags when opening menus, and the second is sometimes the terrain can be a little steep/buggy and unable to jump onto (but its not game breaking).

Feel free to comment if you'd like to talk or ask anything.

I am happy to have played and completed this game.

Game is definitely not bad but matches don't have a lot of depth, other rts's tend to give you unit upgrades or building upgrades and such, but this game doesn't, so you kinda just make 2 buildings and then that's it.
Units can rank up to veteran and such, but sometimes its so slow to heal them, that you kinda throw them out to die. Like if i get that slow walker mech to the other end of them map, i'm not telling it to come home, and i'm not sending engineers to slowly repair him.
This kinda feels like starcraft but all factions are terrans with different units, theres not a whole lot of different in the gameplay and in-match progression of each different factions.

Also some maps, have the thinnest bridges or paths, so your big units can't traverse them easily.. This is not good level design, it makes it so you just attack with small units, and defend with the big ones. You could still use the large ones, but they're so slow!

This game gives me candy. But it's candy corn.
Good movement, wacky weapons, goofy gagets. I hope they add more and balance the ones i'm bad with :)

My friends disagree but i would really enjoy some extra perk kinda things, Not super big things that would break the game, but maybe options to help diversify your build more along with the selection of tools and such. I wanna make myself a quirky build.
