This is the game that started the Mass Effect series, it's also the best..


Don't buy Mass Effect for the combat system.
I was a little frustrated with the shooting mechanics and played the entire game with pistols. That's the only reliable way to shoot, be advised if you're here from a competitive fps.

It's an RPG, and a great one. If a good plot interests you more than combat, this will be a very satisfying experience. I casually breezed through it with the occasional glitch here and there, another fact that didn't bother me much.

Decent visuals(for it's time) futuristic weapons, space exploration, plenty of decisions that actually affect the game, your very own spaceship plus an overpowered monster truck - it's one of the first games anyone should pick up on sale, I feel.

There are multiple squad members to choose from, each with their own backstory.
I keep Ashley cause she is <3.

The story-line is very well paced and there's plenty of freedom when it comes to side-quests, which is heaven for anyone who doesn't like to rush games.It isn't a very long game, so take every opportunity to get sidetracked and complete mini quests. It definitely adds to the experience.

Also - this came out in 2007 so don't be too harsh on it.
