one of the best story-driven shooter games i've ever played.
completed the game on Suicide Mission difficulty (you unlock one more tier after beating the game)
pros:
- amazing storyline, narration & character development
- beautiful game for it's time
cons:
- clunky gameplay (annoying af by 2022 standards, forces me to stop playing after a few hours)
- sadness, sadness and more sadness

I have an RTX GPU & one of the best processors out there. I have 15-17 fps. Don't play this till it's fixed. Shame because it's a great game but can't recommend it in it's current state.

things I liked:
1. hard difficulty feels challenging and rewarding. core mechanics are very similiar to DL1, which was a great game.
2. love the vibrant visuals and the great looking city.
3. side-quests have the same amount of fun as DL1. i'm not really playing this for the story and haven't finished the game yet so can't comment on it.
4. love the music.
5. chases feel good, love the level system 1-4.

bugs:
1. can't join an online session/create an online session. sometimes this results in me being kicked out and not receiving xp.
2. player keeps un-equipping the costume i'm wearing
3. frame drops that make no sense
4. really lame story
5. isnt as scary as DL1

Writing this review to help those with issues on Windows 10, specifically those with three extremely common types of glitches:
- White screen (screen turns white in the middle of combat or traversal) -> Turn off Anti-Aliasing (in some cases, turn off Fog effects, but this issue is almost always solved by turning off AA)
- Stuck on walls/climbing down chains -> Turn ON V-Sync, the game is dated and has issues with higher frame-rates.
- Certain jumps glitchy/not possible -> Lock game to 30 fps. I used Nvidia Control Panel, use whatever works. Jumps should be possible from then on.

No need to restart the game for these issues, just change the settings in-game and it should work normally.

IMO 9/10 game, second best to Warrior Within in my opinion. There's a lot I used to hate about this game when I first played it but now it brings back fond memories and I have accepted it for what it is, an icon in the world of gaming that deserves to be remade - along with Sands of Time & Warrior Within.

To be fair, this game deserves some of the criticism it has received over the years.

The reasons are:

- It's poorly optimised, may/may not crash randomly and ruin your save (save as often as you can. expect a crash at around 1.5-2 hrs of playtime. However some people have said it works okay for them.), and the memory leak is never going to be fixed.

- The story is extremely short and feels like a prequel to something big (like HR felt, but then HR has a reason for existing unlike MD) and ends abruptly.

- Microtransactions (Just get the season pass on sale, for A Criminal Past, and screw the rest)

However I personally loved this game for the following reasons:

- Gameplay and level design (10/10, a vast improvement over HR)

- Side missions (don't rush through the game, it's short. The side missions are great though.)

- Soundtrack (10/10, as good as, if not better than HR)

- Adam Jensen's Intruder Trench coat

Buy it on sale and let's hope they fix up this mess in the next instalment, if and when that is released.

Be warned:
This and pretty much any Dark Souls title is not for casuals (people who play games to relax). Playing this game will take up a significant chunk of your time, and will probably rid you of your sanity, so go for it only if you have skills or the time to get good at the game. I'd estimate 400 hours+ if you're starting from scratch.

After 1 and the mess that was 2, this game redeemed the series.
Enough time invested in building your character, exploring and uncovering the vast, obscure lore will reward the player for sure.

Tip for bosses: Exploit their weaknesses (every boss has a few), memorise their attack patterns and don't expect to beat them on the first try.

Don't forget your estus.

tl;dr - definitely worth a watch, even if you haven't played the game or don't plan to.

Reasons to go for it -

1. It doesn't last longer than 7-8 minutes (rest credits) and it's free.
2. Acting is above average, except Igor Savochkin (protagonist) who was really impressive.
3. Production - 10/10 (possibly done on a low budget but extremely well executed)
4. If you've played the game, you'll be disappointed at how short the video is, considering how well it's done.
5. Even if you haven't played the game and know nothing about what's going on (like me) you'll like the plot.
6. It's basically promotion for their game (of the same name) and I guess it worked, because now I want to play it!!

Reason to avoid it -

1. It's extremely short, and you'll want more content, but there isn't any!!

I really, really want to see this as part of a full length movie. They could've squeezed in way more content if they wanted to, but I guess this was all their budget permitted.

Glory to Arstotzka, and do watch it.

A very enjoyable game with great visuals and an excellent plot.

I'd recommend you to take your time through it and replay levels to unlock challenges, some challenges are very satisfying!

DON'T play on 'Easy', it'll ruin your experience. Also no achievements.

Recommended difficulty is 'Hard' or at least 'Normal'.

Keep in mind that this isn't a 'true' Hitman game, which has left a few disappointed (it's very linear).

Like Tomb Raider, Alan Wake, etc it's one of those games that would've been better appreciated if it were made into a movie.

Definitely worth buying at full price and a great addition to my library. Just finished it, loved every level in the game.
