I really enjoyed this one. I initially dismissed it when it was first announced, thinking it was just another boomer shooter, but the developer has truly created something unique. With a great mix of magic, melee, and some impressive-looking guns (with some upgrades), I had a good time hunting for keys, getting headshots, and CONSUMING THEIR BALLS FOR HEALTH! The story and character motivation are fun as well.

However, the save point mechanic is frustrating. I've had to put the game down several times to chill after dying and having to restart the entire instance. It’s not ideal, and I’m not sure why this choice was made or that this trend exists so often in indie FPS games today. I’d really prefer a standard save feature.

Aside from that, I had a great time and will definitely be back to finish it. Hope you enjoy it too!

REVEREND sits on the bleeding edge of boomer shooters and retro-inspired first person shooters; soaked in mood, aesthetic and dark brooding eldritch personality that creeps on you if you're not careful; a good mix of action like Blood or Rise of the Triad, and slower darker games like Jericho. If you enjoyed other bite-sized boomer shooters like Chop Goblins, you're going to love this.

I don't normally play games like this; but this was easily one of the most rewarding dark cosy games I've ever played. It's only the beginning, it has so much potential to grow, expand and change, and all you need is some imagination. I loved this, and recommend to anyone trying to relax after work; the music is even better. Would just sit with my sitting running, listening to the music, watching the space cars... yeah, this is me mood. Give it a try, worth it.

I do think there's room to improve the camera mind you, and would love a grid system of some kind (I did just make my own with cars) and a neat pop-up to explain certain features would be nice too, and I hope one day, a video recorder in addition to the still camera so I can share this world with others.

While Phantom Fury attempts many fun and engaging ideas, ideas that every boomer shooter or FPS fan would appreciate; it's consistently struggling to stick the trick, and generally doesn't land on anything done well, but rather attempted without actually being completed in some cases. If you're a fan of the universe of Bombshell, I'd give this a look when it's on discount, but otherwise, I cannot recommend this for the casual gamer, rather wait for the next installment for Shellie, this isn't her best time out.

WRATH is a solid and challenging boomer shooter that expands on everything that Quake did. It's no longer some basic Quake mod, it's far more than that.

Hub one is a touch generic: utilising elements from our original Quake 1 experiences, such as dungeons and castles, but it really comes into its own space in future hubs, becoming a far more complex gameplay experience with more verticality, and complex maze-work and layouts.

Weaponry again, moves from basic, to interesting; with most of your weapons roster being built out in hub one, but, future hubs begin to include interesting, or more creative weapons, that make the experience unique. (That crystal gun and mace)

Movement is at the core of the game here; and with the use of the Ruination Blade, speed and maneuverability became an essential skill to develop.

Saving is weird; mixing weird limited "Tether" saves, which are a resource you can use up, and checkpoint saves in the form of Shrines. But then also unlimited saves if you select this option. Again, weird, and I'd have liked to see dev rather than just give us unlimited quick saves.

The Story isn't groundbreaking either, sure it's there, and I can see the dev took time to return to narrative points and develop it out; but, it doesn't feel like anything out of the ordinary (though the final twist was nice), but I just didn't care.

I do recommend WRATH though, even with its weird difficulty spikes, if you like a challenge, and you've had 25 years to get good, you'll love this, even if you're not good, you'll enjoy this challenge, just be aware the gap between easy and medium is massive, and easy itself being easy, until randomly not.

Have fun! I know I did.

When I played the demo. Extraneum is an exciting first-person shooter with a comfortable graphical style and an emphasis on secret hunting and playful yet engaging gunplay. One of my personal favourites.

Forgive me Father 2 has come a long way since the original installment. The developers have learned from all the best parts of the original game, and apply that to this sequel.
Forgive me Father 2, is a traditional boomer shooter, or retro-inspired indie shooter. The graphical comic book style of the game is back and it returns rendered in Unreal Engine 5.
Not sure if it’s because of the engine or the experience of the developers; but each character, monster, or element seems a little bit more dynamic, like they have more animations and frames; making things feel a bit smoother.
In this game, the lore means that we're the priest from the first game rather than the journalist. Though, through the story beats; I think the full game has a lot more in store for us, nothing as simple as just a single character experience maybe.
We don't have that skill tree anymore. This is replaced with something a bit more linear, but no less customizable. The new system means we can go back and change weapon’s equipped, and I think this is a great change from the first game.
The change in power-ups from the 4 in the original to one single Dark Tome of power, is interesting, and I’m not sure if it’s good or bad, but it is different, and different is good, so enjoy customising your power ups here too.

The actual gameplay of Forgive Me Father 2 isn’t too dissimilar to the original or other games in this space; though it does move away from movement shooters, we don’t slide and double jump, we are more grounded and move more Doom-like.

A great sequel to an excellent game, and I’m excited to see the final full game in a year or so, which looks to have several chapters incoming, based on what I see in the hub area. Oh yeah, there’s a cool hub too.

While Dread Templar is a pretty good retro-inspired shooter and gets a lot right; from the guns to the story to the action, I feel the overall experience for me was weakened by the mis-use of the power that is John S. Weekley’s work.

Can it be fixed in future updates? I don’t think so.
Should the developers seriously consider a more adaptive music approach to the sequel; please, yes, please; the game was good, but not worth the literal headache after 16 hours of game play.

The final outcome here; for me at least, is a game that has so much engaging action and interesting game play mechanics, but over the long run time falls short on longevity and consistency, with the noise turning a normal exploration for tokens into a frustrating speed run without breath or air.

I shouldn’t crave the sense of relief I get at the end of the map, just to have a moment to collect myself in a brief instance of pace change, as the tracks change, sometimes, between maps.
Give Dread Templar a try, but take some breaks, unless headaches are your thing. But also, if you miss this one, you’ll only regret that awesome weapon customization mechanic.

Overall; Terra Nil is a lot of fun and very relaxing.
The early game though is the best part; attempting to balance the ecosystem and energy grid, makes for a great time to see the world you've approached come back to life.
Finding the animals and eventually recycling feels shallow, and less overall engaging; more like a painful or unsatisfying slog that was added at end to try extend the game more than actually make this part fulfilling.
Still; a cute soft game to lost a few hours in, and feel good at the end when the planet is saved.

Great classic Doom Clone that is good fun for 6 hours, and then becomes very repetitive and long winded, with little enemy and weapon variety in massive complex maps. The map design is great, creating a sprawling and complicated world to fight through and provides interesting visual story telling; however, on harder difficulties, every step in the game can be a challenge between ammo scarcity and scum saving, making these huge maps a slog and this can be frustrating overtime. I found this point to be an unnecessary way of inflating difficulty (ammo scarcity) However, normal level play through feels a little smoother; giving you a lot more room to breath, run and gun while also not letting you get too cheeky with your speed. Overall fun, if you enjoy Doom or similar games, you'll enjoy this one; though, that repetition feels unfortunate considering other games do this a touch better, such as Seleco. Adding in another gun between the shotgun and flamer would be great, and that final slot 4 gun comes in way too late, maybe something to kill those floating worms quicker, would be nice; super shotgun maybe (jokes), but overall, have fun, let me know what you thought.
