thanks friends :) yeah I like stalker 2, but the graphics aren't really up to scratch with the performance, I find it hard to really enjoy it as much as I'd like to when I can't hold a decent framerate and the foliage that it's full of looks really bad on anything short of max settings + dlaa, and still not great then. But hopefully they optimise it, and i'm sure it will run well enough on my next pc. It's also dying for nvidia filter compatibility as it's drab and undersaturated as hell, the only time it looks vibrant is for 5 seconds after you take a bottle of vodka. Feels like it's been downloading or updating for the majority of the time since I got it so I'm still getting used to it really.

Glad to be back :) All is totally fixed now, getting the mods again was easy peasy this time, crazy that I struggled for years to do that before, I had like 3 or 4 different people help me for hours each and no one figured it out til I'd switched to windows home, now I'm pleased to say it's practically as simple as installing a game for me like it already was for most everyone else.

My screen seems a little blurrier than before, not sure if it's because it's faulty (it already had backlight issues in 2 places), or because I'm not used to it, or because on the current desk I have to have my face like 6 inches from it. I'm sure I'll get used to it either way.

Haha yes :) I can announce I have fixed my PC at home through trial and error though I lost all my data and don't have much storage now. I'm currently slowly reinstalling things, my official return will be once I have done that, set up my good screen, and most importantly and possibly most difficult for me, installed dorhud and fpscap mods for PDTH again.

It wasn't too bad last time I did it but I had difficulties in the past, I think that this was caused by different filepaths in windows home vs pro, as that's the only change I made that suddenly meant I could follow tutorials, before then my filepaths were different and I just hit a brick wall on windows pro while I could install it on windows home, I always get home now so hopefully it will work and I'll be able to play properly again soon.

Yeah that's the plan, a 4090 would be great too but it'd feel like a waste of money once 5090 comes out so I'm stuck waiting, if it had been a whole lot longer til next gen I'd have bought a new pc by now. It'll work out OK in the end though, shame about the wait but I'll enjoy gaming even more and be able to have a top of the line pc for as long as possible. I'll probably wait that little bit longer to get a good after market card.

Hey guys! I'm doing OK, having a hard time in some ways certainly but still keeping on. I'm sorry to have not been around and worried you. I miss you all too and look forward to playing together again.

I still can't get a ride into town to fix my PC, and I'm resistant to booting up much older computers that will have an inferior experience, so with the quality of my rig and the length of time till next gen GPUs come out I'm kind of stuck with the bad choice of either paying too much for a new pc that won't be top of the line for long or waiting way too long for a next gen build, which seems the likely option unless I manage to get a lift, so I should be gaming again by early 2025 if not sooner. Which sucks, but it's pretty much out of my hands unless I decide to start replacing components or pack it into a taxi and spend a few hundred on the round trip to drop it off and again to pick it up.

Don't make me laugh, it hurts my back too much lol. The things people get accused of being cheaters for these days are ridiculous and discriminatory. Of all those I see called cheaters, maybe 25% or less of them are actually out to win unfairly or ruin other peoples games, the majority are just doing what's fun for them, or using mods that people get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ about for no good reason, or have simply been tarred with the same brush as their friends, or found themselves on the wrong side of someone with influence.

I have far more respect for a respectful, honest "cheater" than I do for those who death threat and insult people who are not doing anything anywhere near as harmful as those who discriminate against them. I myself have been threatened and called a cheater merely for having such an opinion, and I couldn't give a ♥♥♥♥.

Friendly people > bullying and aggressive people, any day.

I've been struggling to get a lift into the repair shop, the one time I thought I had, planned months in advance, and at the last minute they refused to take my computer because of the 5 minute detour :(

If I'd thought it would take half this long I would have just bought a new computer ages ago, even though my old one is fixable and it's not a great time to upgrade, I was hoping this one would last till 5090 time. I keep hearing "Don't waste your money on a new one, I'll take you in soon" but also "It's just a computer, just use your tablet"
They don't understand Steam or care if I'm isolated from friends and fun, sadly.
