This is as good as RTS gets, no competition.

To an extent I have the nostalgia goggles on for this one so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

This game is incredible! In my experience it captures all the best elements of an RTS. The fact that it was remade in HD with brand new expansions to boot just goes to show that you dont always need the flashy graphics and intense story, you just need a good game. It is so intricate and deep, down to the races, units, maps, playstyle....well everything. Its easy to pick up and play but very very hard to master, even when you think you know what you are doing theres a player out there that can counter you and i think thats fantastic. Without the dlc the base game is 20usd, currently thats all i have bothered with but i will be getting everything they have released going forward.

Can I have my 30 minutes back please. Recieved this in the humble bundle as i refused to pay full price after really hyping myself up for it after the trailer dropped. So disappointing. Give me a dawn of war 1 with the art style and unit variety of 2 and call it a day thanks.

I don't play horror games.
Contrary to popular belief it's not because I scare easy but more because most of them are just not entertaining. This game is a strong exception, I can not get enough. It's in some weird spot between fever dream and acid trip. Lots of things don't make sense until you really explore around. This game has its chilling moments but I found that I was more invested in how interesting everything was, I wanted to unravel the mysteries of the story. For that reason alone this game stands as just a "good game" not a "good horror game", in the past I have been genre biased but with this experience that will have to change. The immersion is there if you will let it take over. Play alone, turn off the lights, headphones on and let it take you away for a few hours.

This is what happens when you grab a flash game and crank it up to crazy. The base game is simple enough but there is just enough customisation available, not to mention an insane amount of weapons with quite colourful and often deadly results. The community is small so after a while you will probably get used to everyone there quickly. Reminiscent of the chivalry one. If that's your kind of thing this is a no brainer, games are quick, it's only a few hundred mb in size and genuinely a good time.

I would really love to review this game, but i cant see the keyboard through this sea of blood, the thick argent fog isnt helping either. I just know i have to keep my finger on the trigger.

All jokes aside, this game is just pure fun. It can be quite repetitive in level design but the variety of enemies and some kinda weird story holds it all together. Not to mention its got an incredible score, killing hellspawn to heavy metal with many many guns has never felt so good.

Do yourself a favour and give this one a shot. That said, the levels are quite long so one level per play session is generally my rule to not burn out.

These controls are not natural.
I didn't give this game a chance until years after i purchased it because it just didn't feel right.
That was a mistake, this game 'feels' right. You stomp around like a badass, bolter rounds quite literally have weight to them. No game has done the spess mehrines justice like this one.
If you have a few friends the co-op mode is a blast, the story (so far, as i am currently progressing) is quite good also, the main downside with an older game like this is no online activity....at all. Regardless this is just a good time, turn your brain off and blast some orcs.

This has taken me a long time to review.
I bought into the beta and have been playing for years, only recently added it to steam so my hours just seem low. To get one thing out of the way, this thing is a grind. You need to work at it for a long time to really get anywhere. The main reason I held off on this review was because I wanted so hard to give it a thumbs up. But for the longest time I could not. A few years down the track with horizons and engineers and I finally can. This game feels complete and I can happily say I love it. It's not exactly a simulator and it's not exactly an arcade. It's a happy medium. Flying in a wing isn't a must but it makes it much better. If you are solo and don't want to be, there are community goals you can fly to and there's always others willing to fly with you.

Pro's: Large range of ships, Good community, Keyboard and mouse controls are complicated but feel right, Beautiful graphics, play in a variety of ways.

Con's: The play area is near limitless and can make areas feel empty and repetitive, If you just buy the base game horizons and engineer players have a clear advantage in a fight so it's a little pay to win,

A very interesting game, play with the game folder open and don't stop until you see credits. The seemingly game breaking glitches are intentional. Good luck.
