The game literally helped me deal with my depression. Who would have known realizing that other people had the same experience as you can help you feel not so alone in this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥ medical care world. If you or a loved one deals with chronic pain, play it. Have your loved ones play it. It's short, it gets the message across fast, and I can see I'm not the only one that cried at the end. Never give up! You are not alone! Keep Trying! Keep making games like this!

Like a good zombie game, you think it's over, but then they keep showing out of nowhere to drag you back in.
11/10 would wait another 11 years for the VR update.

Buggy as all hell? Sure. Sometimes you can't complete unimportant side missions right now? sure. Is it an EA game and seems like it's not fully complete? sure.
You want to buy it and play it. It does exactly what you want from a Detective Noir~esque game. Murders are still the most fun, but you will still enjoy the silly side missions.
Best off, this is all simulated and you may end up even witnessing the murder! I was just trying to escape from paying a medical bill and ran outside to escape and suddenly saw someone fleeing from another person that was collapsing... and I was confused. I thought maybe I had accidentally knocked someone out in my escape... and then a few moments later I was told of a new murder scene... That one!
The game isn't perfect yet, but it is still VERY fun already. Just be prepared to save a lot (because it doesn't auto save) and to have to save/reload to fix a few bugs. (and be okay if you can't turn in a side-case because of a bug in it)

EDIT- NOPE! NOPE NOPE!
Game is TRASH. Not just predatory Shop with convenient Leftover Tokens and "exclusive limited time option" and Toxic Developer excuses, Not just a full Shop before finishing the crafting system. But just horrible bugs and crashes that are getting WORSE as they patch the game. While at the same time, very much not seemingly wanting to listen to their player base. So sad, because everyone would gladly buy their cosmetics if they didn't try to nickle and dime with token system or a FOMO with a "This will go away soon" system.

They are learning, but do need to learn fast. The game has great elements, like the soundtrack is amazing; but it's still not making the grind fun... when you just grind for numbers. But there are other smaller cracks to a bigger problem.
More so when 99% of players don't use voice comms (which is quiet and poorly made so understandable since you don't know WHO is talking) there is no easy way to communicate important things with players. You can only spot ONE elite at a time, and you can only point out one item one time.... but yet you can spam "Go over here" and thus you are stuck trying to blindly explain to players what and why they should go somewhere.
What's even worse is there is no "COHESION HERE" button! For the game pioneering a bonus for sticking close together while Deep Rock Galactic have things like "Rock and Stone!" to promote Comradery, even when we have plenty of "For the Emperor" and "Fight Stance 37" shouts already. The game needs more things to get players to WANT to work together, and not just want to finish levels faster and thus ultimately run off alone and die.
I'm just saying, this is a game where you go through a linear level, shoot a lot of things, smack a lot things; rinse and repeat. If you don't work on the other elements to make players want to play with other players... you basically just get people stuck wanting to only play if it's with friends which will make this game fall apart in being any fun, fast.

This game is definitely not finished yet, but it's definitely good. Right now it feels they want to set up "hard choices" of helping or hurting the Onbu (giant), Helping or hurting Nomads along the way, and chosing paths (both literal and tech); BUT those choices are sorta of both forced and not important.

For instance, Onbu "Trust" is the only stat you DON'T see, and it's also the only thing that seems fickle. I can break the creature trust by hurting it all day, so long as I just Feed and Pet it at the last second before making a request it seems to obey. Meanwhile if I have long ago done nothing but love and never broke it's trust.. it seems to never let me choose which way to turn at crossroads.

Same problem with wandering nomads and decisions for poisoned nomads, etc. Since there is no reputation system, acting like giving medicine or water to them means anything is pointless. They either give me nothing, more people, or I "roleplay" that I feel bad that some people might die. I'm never rewarded for helping people out, and never shown consequences for letting everyone die around me.
Now, that being said; mechanically giving them my resources to get more people and things so that my town gets bigger and stronger still works; so THAT part still works. So that game still works in early access. Like I said, the game is set up so long as the developers know it's not finished yet.

The feel of the game is great. The Game Cycles is about dealing with the change of biomes. As your Onbu walks around you need to constantly shift what you grow, what you harvest, and what your scavenge so that you are ahead of the problems. The difficulty is that the hazards ahead get worse and worse the farther you walk, but so do some of the potential bonuses and tech. So you must grow fast enough to take advantage of those things in time to "win".

The win is usually when you have out "teched" the hazards enough to not worry too much about them. The only problem I had with the game in this is that it was self aware of this problem and so it created a buffer to stop this. Late tech required "knowledge points" to complete it. The only want to get this is from random scavenge points on the map. This means RNG can make you wait to do tech. Mix this up with the fact that some resources are only found from scavenge points and you need those for some buildings to build those late tech buildings... and you're stuck playing the game longer than you need to be to "win" the game.

TLDR; The game has enough potential for me in just the feel it brings to play recommend it, but it has built in mechanical enforced length. It's only the late, late game; but it still sucks to just wait around for RNG for new things in a game. Buy if you're okay for 10-20 good hours of game while waiting for updates or to support the game. I can definitely see myself playing it a different way in my second/third play through which is a big win for any city builder.

Why is always the people who say "don't make things political" that immediately decide to make things political? In the patch notes even? Also with pick up lines? You okay dev?
Oh wait, you're not okay, because you decided to take content out of your game to put it into DLC so you could make people give you an extra money even when the content is not fully ready. NICE

It's good to see a Total War game that isn't just number rolling against numbers. I'd forgotten they made such better games before where actual combat was calculated, actual projectiles were calculated, and where tactics were far more important that just stat numbers.
Most people don't realize the difference, but when you play any Total War game tthat is Shogun 2 or earlier, you were playing with combat calculations, and not stat number dice rolls. Charges were a risk and rewards, and trying to pull out from a charge was a risk you rarely wanted to take as it gave free hits on your retreating horse units. Projectiles had to actually HIT the target, and it would ACTUALLY hit a shield to deflect instead of some cheap percentage dice roll. Morale actually meant something, and a charge on the rear of a unit was far more scary then some "push button howl" ability.
It's so hard to explain, but it's so good to play again. Even if the old game was better with mods, it didn't NEED mods like future total war games did. Even if it has some of the old bugs, is still not as horrible as say, rome total war 2 that had bug like "higher ground meant less morale" or "Tortoise formation actually causes MORE casualties to arrows". Yeah, the individual soldiers actions being molded individually means they do some stupid things now and then but it's worth every good thing that comes with this old way of simulating battle that Total War has given up on doing. I can only hope they'll learn from this and make games that aren't just ♥♥♥♥♥♥ percentile rolls, stat boosts, and cycle charging.
