Let me start off by saying that I am extremely biased when it comes to Age of Mythology as it was one of the first games I played as a child and holds a lot of memories. While you should take my review with a grain of salt, you should also know going into this, that I had extremely high expectations for this release. And I can safely say, they managed to meet each and every single on of them.

Age of Mythology Retold is a remake of Ensemble Studios hit 2002 game Age of Mythology. The Teams at World's Edge and Forgotten Empires did an amazing job with the remake, bringing some of the dated systems up to speed with modern day gaming, while maintaining the classic feel, style, and gameplay of early 2000 RTS's. A huge graphic overhaul brings an already beautiful game to new heights, paired with the oh so sweet music of the original, which really brings my nostalgic feels to the forefront. They do maintain the original animations and most sound effects, but brings in a new cast of voice actors/actresses rather than keep the original audio. While I wasn't a massive fan of the new cast, it's hard for me to move past the original voice lines, so players new to the game, won't have an issue. They do a good job and players will be pleased.

The game offers quite a bit for players to dig into, with 4 different pantheons to choose from with a 5th on the way in the form of Immortal Pillars. I was happy to see the base game include the Titans pantheon, as it originally was an Expansion for the original game. We also saw the Chinese pantheon before as DLC called Tales of the Dragon, but I was not surprised to see that excluded from the base game. Players choosing to dive into the Story will find that it's not just a tacked on mode, but a cared for plot with interesting characters and fun levels. The Main campaign will bring you through the 3 original pantheons being Greek, Egyptian, and Norse. But the game does include 2 additional campaigns, one focusing on 2 dwarves Brokk and Eitri and their quest in constructing a Giant Golden Boar for the Norse god Freyr. This campaign is new to the remake, as Freyr is also a new god introduced in the remake as well. The other Campaign follows the Atlanteans and the Titans pantheon, which was included in the Titans expansion for the original.

This combined with the replayability of an RTS round this out to be another great addition to the Genre and I hope will inspire more RTS's in this form.

I do also feel the need to bring this up as well, while it doesn't affect how the game itself is, it does reflect poorly on the publishers and should be mentioned. Before launch, we were offered to either buy the base game, the ultimate premium edition, or, for players that already owned the base game, an upgrade option from base to premium. For owners of the premium edition, we were given early access to the game up to a week before release. Early access that was also promised to players who bought the base game, then purchased the upgrade. However, when it came time for Early Access to be granted, those who purchased the upgrade were unable to launch or play the game. This was said to be a bug, a bug that rather than be fixed, was circumvented by players being told to refund the upgrade, and the base game, then buy the premium edition outright. But in my case, I was gifted both the base game, and the upgrade, so refunding and purchasing the outright premium edition was a difficult task for me. So instead, I opted to wait the week for it's official release. I still was granted the other benefits such as the next 2 expansions free and the new god, but this issue did leave a sour taste in my mouth and will have me rethinking future early access purchases.

Diablo meets Path of Exile. Smooth and fun. Cool animations. A lot of different builds.

Don't let the mixed reviews fool you. The devs were struggling with the servers. They were causing players to lose their progress. Those players complained. When the devs took the servers down to fix them and roll them back, those players complained. The servers are finally up and playable.

Honestly, one of the best fighting games I've played in quite some time. If you are coming into this expecting it to be like Mortal Kombat or Injustice 2, you'll be wrong. It has a more Marvel vs. Capcom 2 feel to it.

FighterZ is extremely easy to get into. The tutorials tell you how to do basic combos which still make you look badass while doing it. It's combat is beautiful, fluid, and is quite snazzy looking when you're able to combo a character chain right into an ultimate.

The story is an original story, not a rehash of you going through all the arcs through Dragonball Z and Super. They've even gone so far as to add a new character named Android 21 who is a Majiin android. Her creation was supervised by Akira Toriyama himself. She has quite a unique playstyle and is a great addition

My only gripe with the game is the Arcade. I hate artificial difficulty in games, and the arcade is a pretty good example of such. Hard modes of the arcade instead boost up the NPC difficulty rather than have them do some amazing combos. If one character is able to do one basic heavy combo, you lose half your health.

The lobby system is qutie annoying as well. It's hard to get into the same lobby with your friends to play against them, since you have to be in the same lobby to play with them. I wish they would add just a normal private match system so you are able to invite your friends rather than deal with the hassle of getting into the limited lobbys with only 64 player max slots. Quite annoying

All in all, this is definitely a pickup. If you love fighting games and love Dragonball, this is well worth the $60 pricetag.

Played to Troll Around.
Had fun.
Continued to Play.
Made a server.
Made money off the server.
Quit Playing.

Never turn a fun game into your job. You'll hate it.

When reviewing Shadow of War, we need to take a look at it from 2 sides. One side being with the microtransactions, and one side without it.

We'll start with the obvious first. IF YOU DO NOT LIKE MICROTRANSACTIONS AND IT RUINS GAMES, DO NOT GET THIS. They are present and will get you angry. That being said, nothing is locked behind microtransactions. All gear and followers I have obtained have been acquired through playing the game and getting currency from missions and doing daily challenges. There are 2 forms of money, the Silver Coins which are obtained by doing missions and killing certain enemies, and then there is the gold Coins which is obtained by doing Daily Challenges and through Microtransactions. This game can be enjoyed to the fullest without spending a dime other than the initial purchase. That being said, the game can be ruined by throwing money at your computer screen and having legendary gear popping out at you. You won't find the unfairness in this until end game and only if you're playing online.

Fans of the first one will be please to know that they've only improved upon it. They've improved upon the combat, skills, story, dominating system, and even added features. I haven't enjoyed my self this much in awhile. That being said, there are times where it can get a little repetitive. But the story drives out the time period a lot more and even brings up a character that we saw in the first Lord of the Rings Movies. Isildor is a Nazgul
If you loved the first one and won't let the Microtransactions ruin your experience, this is a definite buy. If you're new to the series, play the first one first, determine if you enjoy it, then get the second one instead of having to drop $60.

If you don't want to support a company that would put Microtransactions in a Single player game, don't get it. Save your money for something else.

For me, the game was well worth the $60.

SIDENOTE: If you want a full review, give this a like and I can post a super duper long ass review that goes over everything added, removed, improved upon, and ruined.

I will be comparing this to past Civilization games.
Lets Start off with how the game runs. The graphics are tuned down and given a more artistic style rather than the realistic style that Civilization V had. I get a Civlization Revolution feel when playing this game. With the dumbed down graphics, the game runs smoother. The turns and movements run really seemlessly and its hard to even tell when it's your turn. That being said, the game suffers from random crashes. Everytime I start a game an online game, my friend crashes at least once due to a different problem each time. I even felt the wrath of crashing before I wrote this review. All this being said, the game starts up quicker than past civ games but still rapes your ears with extremely loud music. If you can deal with the occasional crashes, and the simpler art style, then Civilization VI is your game.
Next lets talk about the Content in the game. Civilization VI has 18 civilizations in total with the Aztecs being a preorder civ, but available after the 90 day launch for free to play. Now, to compare this to Civilization V after all its dlc was released, there was 43 civs. Now obviously we can't compare an at launch game to a game that has gone through many dlcs, and game updates. I expect Civilization VI to have th same amount of Civs after all its dlc has been released, or maybe even more. 18 Civs is a good number and offers a wide variety of replayability since every civ plays differently. Whether you want to go to the conquest route that Germany offers you or the Cultural route France offers you, every single one of your play styles is there.
What did they add? So a lot of things have changed from past civ games. Civilization VI now has 2 trees to go down, a Science and a Culture tree. With the addition of the Culture tree, you know can specifically select which play style you want, rather than rushing Science in order to get a cultural victory like in past Civ games. Tech such as Civil Service is now in the cultural tree. It now makes more sense. Another thing that was added was Amnenities and Housing. Amnenities has now replaced Happiness and works the same way. If your Amnitity is too low, your production will slow down and your population can revolt. It seems though, it's not as big of a concern as happiness was in Civilization V. Many a times did I have revolutions on my hand because my happiness was too low. There is also housing. Housing can affect how your population grows. If you don't have enough housing, your population will slow to a halt and will not expand. Near mid game, housing tends not be an issue due to the new Housing District which I will now talk about. One of the coolest things that has been added that was not in previous civ games is Districts. Districts can be built in a city and take the place of one tile and allow you to build specific buildlings. A Campus (Science) allows you to build universities and libraries. It also allows you to use a Great Scientist on it. Almost each resourse has a district. There is one for Housing, Amenities, Science, Culture, Gold, Military, and even production. The districts allow your city to look more diverse and be beautiful rather than the lands just be farms.
Lastly I just want to talk about the AI. This is the thing that really drove me to make this review. The AI suck... They almost always hate you and will turn on you in a second. Civilizations have 2 traits that a player can try to appeal to and it determines whether or not they like you. I will use Rome as an example. Rome has 2 traits, one is a set trait that he will alwyas have and one is a random trait. The set trait is, Rome likes civlizations that expand. The unkown can be anything. It is the most difficult thing to appeal to more than one Civ because their traits all vary largely. There was a time that I become friends with a civ and then they denounced me the next turn. The AI are very unstable and Ghandi is stil a warmongering ass. If you want a guarenteed win in Civilization VI, go down the Militaristic path beacuse you will go to war with atleast 6 nations whether you are friendly or not.
After reading all of this, you're probably wondering if I recommend you buy it. Yes. I do recommend you pick this game up...when it's a cheaper price. The game isn't the $60 price tag for the issues it has. Maybe if the price goes down or they fix the issues that are present, will I then recommend you go out and buy it now. But if you have Civilization V, just stick with playing it.
