Extremely novel and charming game. The core of running around as single word uttering undead crew with Necromancer Gman getting into "situations" is fantastic. Some things I'm mixed on or would prefer to see changes in further iterations.

The Combat is.. ok. The drip feed of new skills is so heavily dependent on getting lucky with letter drops that I had maybe half of the skills by the end of the game, the final encounter is not at all tuned for full skills as I found out while getting additional endings. The encounter density is exhausting compared to the overall complexity of the combat (which compounds into tedium with all of the typing).

NPC interaction is fantastic, there are some delightful subversion you can do with your word choice. The squad has a lot of personality buried in their memories and actions on the field.

Exploration is confusing due to the uniform art style, the map isn't very helpful. Towns could stand to be a little more coherent and not purely dungeony. Big plus for silly things like fishing and Whatever.

I really hope they're able to either iterate or expand on Cryptmaster because overall it is a lovely experience that doesn't overstay its welcome. Thank you for this unique entry in the genre.

Excellently comfy micro-sized Dungeon Crawler dripping with glorious Graverobber Foundation atmosphere. Please buy a copy so we can get many more iterative sequels on this loop, thank you. (Since I initially reviewed Dragon Ruins, we got an announcement for Dragon Ruins 2 early next year, yay!)

Lovely little introduction to Pathfinder 2E! I had a great time going through with the default party and learning how to play this system in this cute scenario. There's even custom party options and free scenario encounters beyond the campaign. I adored the presentation, it was definitely punching above its weight class.

I hope to see more from Dawnsbury studios and hopefully more from people fully embracing the PF2E system and options it gives you.

Lovely, deeply weird, and humorous RPG. Punches well above its weight in presentation and style, both in battle and with the plentiful cut-scenes. Well worth a nice afternoon play-through.

It's a touch underbaked and the premise is nothing new or overly exciting, but I do enjoy the framing of playing the game within an "emulator" on a virtual desktop, and some of the aesthetics they have cultivated, so, worth a quick afternoon play.

Lies of P charmed my pants off. They successfully synthesized a souls game from many elements that would not normally be straightforwardly cohesive for the genre. Leaning into the innate darkness of fairy tales with contemporary explorations of Robots and humanity (Nier, Pluto) to supplement the puppet filled narrative. They assembled a voice cast that is honestly leagues above the expectations I had, and they completely sold the drama.

The Exploration is fine. The areas are overall pretty linear but tightly wound around the spawn points with plenty of shortcuts. If anything it's a bit too forgiving with spawn points for most of the experience, leaving many shortcuts little used. Plenty of set-pieces and minibosses to challenge you.

Combat is probably the most contentious part of the experience. It's very demanding and will be infuriating unless you're willing to learn and enter the flow state, but nothing feels better than landing a flurry of parries on a boss. Weapon variety is pretty good, you can mix and match common blades and handles to suit your play, but the boss weapons completely outclass them with their gimmicks and play style. Common weapons are most useful for utilizing free elemental damage (if you're having trouble on a boss literally just make sure to use elemental damage and enemy type amulet buffs).

By far the most competent non-from souls game with its own set of particularities, aside from Team Ninja titles (Nioh and the ilk are wonderful to play but the random loot driven aspect of those experiences weigh them down). Very excited that this game ended up being a surprise success and looking forward to whatever fun Fairy tale exploration NEOWIZ follows up Lies of P with.

Quite a lovely game, warts and all. The big time strengths of Lunacid are wholesale "Vibes", Music, wildly fun and different magic selection (including magic that interacts with the world in unexpected ways) and weapon choice. Monster dismemberment with careful targeting is joyous to pull off.

However, the feel of areas vs NPCs and monsters populating them was disparate, almost to the point of clashing. Many aspects of the game are essentially 1:1 with Souls/King's Field/Shadow Tower, and other titles, and they do stick out to the point of distraction if you know and love all of those games. It gives me a sense of being afraid to really fully stand on its own merits, which is deeply disappointing because Kira is an incredibly imaginative developer.

Despite this, I do firmly find Lunacid as a perfect throwback to people looking to dip their toes into this style of game, and for lovers of the genre. There truly is a beautiful sense of wonder and exploration playing through the game and the various areas for the first time. One of the clear standouts of 2023.

Surprisingly charming and cute throwback platformer. It can be deceptively devious (there is a post game gauntlet if you just can't get enough) but the setting and mechanics at play in the main story leave you wishing there was more than the "pilot episode". Here's hoping!

Cute little surrealist game. Fun to rocket around the unique zones doing some light puzzle solving with the surprisingly in-depth movement mechanics. Love me some DnB #OrboSweep

Aggressively Mediocre. Good art style/presentation and some nice ideas in there.

Maybe the Sequel will be actually good, here's hoping.
