I really enjoy this game, I really don't know what I'd classify as pro's because it's one of those games that I just have fun with. But I'll list the cons from what I notice is lacking compared to previous installments of Total War.

-Siege Battles
One thing I've noticed is that most siege battles (when it's a city with walls) is always a one front battle. Unlike previous installments; where you could usually attack from 3 out of the 4 sides of the city (usually the last one is on a cliff face, looking at Shogun 2 here) and it's just kind of an annoyance to siege certain cities because of the current layout of siege maps. It's literally just having 1 or 2 sets of siege towers to get your best melee into the fray unscathed and having the rest mount the walls. In earlier games it was the same aspect but you, in Rome Total War. you could sap the walls or have a large force mounted to one front while you had others scale the opposing side to either capture the point or remove hidden artillery units.

-Small Map(?)
Don't get me wrong, I understand fairly well that it's a place that isn't even real but isn't that also a driving factor for having more lands? Look at any other Total War game, most maps spanned fairly far and wide, having a need to build a ship yard or something along those lines. In this, there's damn near minimal interaction. Everyone is mainland except for Chaos. That's it. There's no other continent to stake claim as your own.

-Unique Settlements (If that's wording)
Being limited as a race to only be able to only take over "so and your own race's building's" is pretty lame if you ask me. I can understand it as a challenge but it's really dumb that you're limited to only a 1/4th of the map due to being whatever race. You should be able to research (or as Orks just refit it and Chaos continue being a horde) to be able to settle in a different factions settlement type.

-Race Unit Limitations
I understand that there's kind of a reason for such and all that but lets look at the Dwarves, they have no form of cavalry and that's my biggest problem. It's impossible to run down routing enemies until you get a Gyrocopter but even then that's not that effective. Another example, why do Vampire Counts not have any ranged units beside some magic? I can understand no siege weapons because even then with the Vampire Count units there's enough flying beasts to counter the need for cannons.

-Assassins
Shogun 2 had a very rock paper style assassin mechanic, that made it super easy at early levels to figure out how to counter what was trying to kill you. As a Dwarf my army is literally losing a commander every 5-10 turns due to Greenskin assassins. I had no idea on how to counter other than hope to god that this commander doesn't die this turn.

All in all, I do enjoy it.

Well it shouldn't need to be modded

Keep in mind the mod that they released with the game that allows anyone to take any city. It was a big gripe for me but it was pacified with the mod
