Becoming an employee of a mortuary, where you can work as an exorcist as an unwanted "sidekick" is possible in the game The Mortuary Assistant. In terms of the story, the introduction smacks of a particular cliché. Apparently, the creators did not want to deal with the story so much as a different experience from the horror itself.

In the introduction, you will get to know your job and the steps necessary to perform the given profession. Once you've nailed the initial training, it's time to tackle your first night shift. You already know here that the situation is a little different and that in addition to your work as a pathologist, you have to face the evil that lives in the morgue building. As a complete novice in the field of demonology and exorcism, you are provided with guidance from your superior, who has been involved in these fields for several years.

Most of the instructions are straightforward and clear, others require you to wade through a sort of homemade wikipedia system available on the morgue computer. Here, I sometimes had trouble deciphering what the author wanted to say. Basically, there are a few types of demons and a few names. The goal is to find the right one and perform the exorcism. In the meantime, you can "calmly" go about your work.

As I understand it, each kind of demon haunts in a different way. I had the feeling that the game tried everything possible on me. Not to mention that among the various ways of being scared, there was actually one that had a big effect on me. So horror enjoyment is great for me. I got what I expected.

The game lasts about two hours. However, there are five different endings to how this night shift can turn out. Given the experience, I'm really looking forward to playing through the next playthrough and seeing what other conclusions might occur.
