the physics engine is a buggy mess. that's not what you really want to see for a game focused on being careful and reliable with your movement. it makes a lot of sense why it's on such a high discount, because they simply haven't touched the game in years.

a medley of unrelated philosophical ramblings amidst puzzles that have zero guidelines or excessive memory required to complete. the puzzles aren't hard, but merely tedious and require a lot of backtracking and trial and error rather than difficulty or actual brainpower.

becomes stale as soon as you get to the point of shares. the game establishes itself as very interactive and then suddenly drops it since it goes completely idle. despite being four years old the physics still can cause a ball to nearly infinitely alternate between three bumpers in rare cases, which doesn't matter for high scores anyways because the leaderboard is filled with hundreds of cheaters. for incremental games, you want progression to not be too linear, but also not too exponential, and this game falls short of trying to accomplish that.

has some actual good jumpscares which i like, while some others are kinda bad(to be fair though, most of those are meant to keep you on edge.) if you aren't exactly paying attention some of the jumpscares won't spook you as much as they normally would, so it heavily relies on you to be locked in and staring at your screen for the best effect. if it were still paid, i wouldn't recommend it for how quickly you'd likely complete it; it wouldn't be worth the price.

i already miss this game because it feels barren. it's like an older game in a fps series losing its playerbase because they move on to the newer releases. still won't forget darth jiggles, though, he was a pretty cool guy to come across in this game

basically doom except if it was made by bungie. it's not bad for its time, but i think that's where a lot of people miss the point of putting this on steam. it's meant for the nostalgia, not for a new spin on doom-likes or a 3d adaptation. it's certainly not a game people recognize as much as they would the doom series, but having it available to play and see what it was like is quite nice. that being said, though, i think i would've not recommended this had it been a remaster/redesign of the original put behind a price tag. this game is older than most of the people who are currently playing it, and that includes me, and that doesn't mean it should be treated as if it were a new game.

it's somewhat good, i guess? it's a little hard to understand how the game works at first, but afterwards it's quite entertaining. it's essentially doom 64 + binding of isaac with random procedural generation, waves of enemies, and a lot of projectiles to worry about dodging. it's executed okay, but there's some bugs with the ai in enemies that cause them to suddenly snap to locations noticeably far away with a velocity they shouldn't have. it hasn't gotten me killed yet, but i'd imagine it gets annoying when you're trying the top difficulty and everything.

like doom, enemies can start fighting each other if their attacks hit amongst themselves. like the binding of isaac, there's random upgrades, perks, and trinkets you'll encounter. what's unique to it being a roguelike is a non-stop wave of enemies that you have to hold off while doing objectives, kind of like lfd2 or killing floor. i haven't seen any procedurally-generated roguelikes have this trait so far, so i think that's why i praise it instead of disliking it. then again, it's a doom2 mod, so of course it isn't going to look very good. i've seen a handful of actual games that have been made off of this engine, and it's quite crazy to think about. it's certainly not the best one in my eyes, but it's still pretty solid.

game slows down very quickly to a snail's pace in progression once you reach the 100 M IP mark. think of it as starting the game for the first time and divide that by at least tenfold. i get there being checkpoints where the game progression slows down, but the progression slows down that much to the point where it's too slow to consider as reasonable. the microtransactions in this game are a bit crummy, but don't feel like they're enough for the game to suggest you should purchase anything to progress past this point because each shop upgrade is a small increase
