Monster killing is fun, and I've had some memorable gunfights. but 9 out of 10 matches are just: run around for 10 minutes to even get the *chance* of practicing your aim on an actual person. If you die, you'll have to waste another whole 10 minutes to try again. It just makes me wonder, is this worth the effort? I actively tried to improve, I've played enough to retire a few hunters, but it's dawning on me that even then, I'm not having fun. Even when I do win I sometimes just feel like an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for obliterating a 2 star.

I think I enjoyed this game the most just hanging out in the shooting range.

Some of the most creative maze puzzles I've ever played! I liked the freedom of being able to drop one puzzle and try another if I couldn't figure one out, it kept the pace going. I do have a minor gripe with how much of a hassle it is to drag things across the screen though, feels like molasses.

This was one of my favorite games in recent memory, and also one of the few I enjoyed enough to replay! 3 times as of review.

Soundtrack was great, loved Empty Bailey and the Final Boss theme.

The movement is the shining star of the game, the sound and animation make it feel great. As you'd probably expect for the genre, I got lost and went around in circles, but it was so fun to zip around that I actually didn't mind too much.

Every new toy I got to play with made me see the world in a new light, every little spot I could squeeze the most out of one ability. There were points where I'd find potential sequence breaks, a route to skip using keys or get by with a different item, and they would stick in my mind to try on my next run. It also got me to start building a mental map, so that I could one day know the walls of Castle Sansa by heart, giving nicknames to different rooms like "The Egg Path," "Little Library," "The Weird Room," and so on.

The enemy designs are fun, I love the sound of the little tuba fellows. However I do wish the combat meshed with the movement a bit more. You can stylishly initiate a fight with a slide jump, which is fun, but not that much more effective than walking up to them.

I tried out the charge attack for a bit, but I just went back to the three hit combo, since it was enough for smaller enemies while on the run, and having to stand still with the charge attack made it harder to use against the statue knights.

I swear this game made me a better person.

More specifically a more patient one.

It's like Getting Over It but with guns. The ranking system, where you have do redo a level if you die, will definitely frustrate you at first. However it later on becomes the appeal, the grindstone that you refine yourself on. This isn't a game that you absentmindedly blast through and forget about, with a YouTube video in the background.

It demands that you focus, and if you fail to, your heart will jolt with the beep of death that you will grow to despise. The initial difficulty makes it all the more satisfying when you are able to cleanly dispatch enemies without having to run. If you do have to run however, it's exhilarating.

The narration in the tapes is pleasant to listen through, and along with the scattered notes there's a lot of intriguing lore and gun history to dig into. (There's also a cute love story in there and I'm a sucker for that.)

You'll never hit a cap where you think you're truly perfect at this game, you'll always be improving. For me that adds a lot of replay value. I've only recently remembered to use it, but the Firing Range and Challenge Dome also give you a lot to do post-game. It's been over a year since I bought it and I keep coming back to it, and there aren't many games in my library that have that privilege.

Extremely fun and hard to master, but showing it's age, which is to be expected.

Combat is fast and deadly, true to it's arena fps roots. Shows it's age but still fun. Some classes do feel pretty weak though. Medic is pretty much a direct upgrade to Scout, and Pyro simply can't match the damage output of other classes.

A calming experience that you can just chill out with for an hour or two. I do think the micro-transactions should be much cheaper. Having to buy currency also seems like an unnecessary middleman.

Early Access Review
Right now its got of lot of stuff to build with and a nice intuitive system to connect the "nodes" to program your machine. Not for everyone but if you like building stuff in games I recomend this. I used to have a lower end machine with this game but Ive since upgraded to a better pc. It would be nice if you could change graphics settings before rendering the main menu. It lagged my old pc a lot, and even crashed it at points.

It's a great expirience, although it quite unoptimized and it is very laggy for my laptop, even on low graphics settings. Hopefuly you will have it better. Lowering resolution helps, but the UI can become unreadable and a bit too large. UI size adjustment could be nice.
My review may not be too accurate, I don't play much due to lag but I have followed this game for the past few years.
Take everything with a side of salt. I apologize if you don't agree.
It is very satisfying to craft your defenses and gain power, fighting the hordes as they come on after another in Invasion. It would be nice if there was a popup signaling when they come to attack when you don't have your volume up, because it has ended me many times.
Conquest is something I can not rate, it's too laggy for me to play.
I don't have friends for multiplayer so I can't rate that either.
Sandbox is a nice place to relax and create a grand fortress. The building blocks that are availible allow you to make something simple look quite good, and debug mode is awsome to make building easier in Sandbox.
The map creator can be a bit wonky at times, but it definetely gives you freedom. I would like "Carve" tool so players could create caves or just remove resources they placed. It would open a wholee new world for map making.
I would recomend that you do the tutorial and learn what your doing before you dive in, because you will get lost a begginer.
Thank you for your time.
