Even after a year of screwing over original backers this game still has crucial bugs, even new ones introduced in the steam version that would be easy to fix, but they ignore them. Do not buy unless this game is heavily discounted and fixed.

Educational games cannot just spread outdated science and excuse it with as gameplay. Just make a normal game instead.

If you love the Final Fantasy Tactics games, this one is a must buy.

One of the most creative and intriguing mysteries I have ever played.
The game has an amazing way of immersing the player in the investigation and requires some really good deduction work.
The environments can be a bit hard to make out at the beginning but players will easily get used to the art style.
My only negative impression comes in the form of how slow interacting with the book is.

I'd recommend this game on a good sale only, the gameplay is good enough with some fun exploration, but I honestly expected much more from this by how many people praised it as basically the machine gun messiah (which is a good song to listen to while you turn down the ingame music).
The fights are rather boring, because enemies are pretty stupid and can usually be outmaneuvered without much thought, while also being extremely bullet spongy. The weapons you get seem at first glance extremely overpowered but combine that with the sheer stamina of the demons and they just become clunky. The weapons that actually do pack a punch are so limited even on max ammo that you won't kill much more than a small handful of demons.
Here we have another problem, some encounters, especially in the first half of the game, are so devoid of enemy numbers that you don't even want to waste your seemingly precious ammo, while in later encounters there are many demons that keep trickling in in small groups which makes you use your weaker weapons for most of them because you run out of ammo on the big guns.

I have to say that despite my complaints I found the combat decently entertaining, what I listed is what's keeping this game from having great combat. I also quite liked the exploratory part with some very nice level design, which is very atmospheric.

Last, I want to express a bugbear that I have with the music in the game. It is bland as hell (which ironically isn't bland in the game). The music is mostly for people that don't listen to a lot of metal on their own, and while having great production value, is more akin to a generic pop song than something really unique or impressive.

At first looks like an amazing game, but the further you get the more you'll need to fight finnicky mechanics and hitboxes with ridiculously times precision jumps, ruining an otherwise great game.

the free max level upgrade is nice, but unnecessary if you use mods, and this broke borderlands 2 reborn, so I couldn't care less about some soulless content with the wrong voice actor.
