Early Access Review
Ostriv is a lovely game with quite a complex economy. It simulates many different aspects the player needs to take into account like, for example:
- different levels of spoilage
- seasonal haymaking
- animals requiring water and food depending on the type (chicken eat different seeds, pigs are less picky)
- carts should be provided in different places to improve transportation of goods and resources
- crop rotation must be considered, as well as plowing the soil
- workforce is managed indirectly, you can open jobs in workplaces and set their wages, but the workers will decide individually where to work based on distance to their home and pay

Furthermore, taxes, rents and wages are set by you and go into/come from your treasury directly. Families bring in some money when they settle but after that only earn money inside your economy from wages and selling their own produce. Except for trade with other settlements, it is basically a closed system with all the money circulating between your treasury and your families. It is up to you to ensure an equal distribution of wealth in your population while keeping your treasury just full enough to be able to pay for wages and, if needed, imports.
If all this doesn't scare you off and you delight in managing and tweaking, this game is for you.
