is good game but story is wank and predictable. endings r unsatisfying aswell. fun game otherwise

eh kinda mid, maybe for 2007 the audio, visuals and gameplay would be revolutionary... but defo not anymore. story is kinda ass tbh. not aged well. also be prepared for a ♥♥♥♥ load of beeping alarms

save corrupted right before ending ffs.

game has a good story with interesting ideas and some cool mechanics, such as the quantum moon. but it became so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ frustrating to play the end because of a handful of incredibly ♥♥♥♥ game mechanics. such as

-a constant timer on how long you can explore
-solid 2-4 minutes just to get back to a planet once youve died
-dying repeatedly (which is the large part of the story but i couldnt give a ♥♥♥♥ because its just annoying)
-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fish planet

a very cool world overshadowed by some absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mechanics. didnt even get to see the ending in game...... looked at it on youtube. theres multiple endings which all looked alright. i can see why many have their own profound experiences, but it just didnt land for me

overrated game honestly. has the same vibes as subnautica. but subnautica mechanics dont make me want to shoot myself

Has the best story of any game ive played- it really is very very very good

definitely worth playing for the story alone, even if you dont like horror

a very good psychological horror. the ending is the most horrifying part, and its perfect really

voice acting and the dialogue is also top tier

in terms of non psychological horror, the game is pretty scary. but after some time, the horror sequences become predictable and annoying...

6.5/10. does many things right, but too many things wrong

great game. so good that ubisoft recycled it for the next 10 years, but still can't improve upon it. the game performs very well in all areas (story, gameplay, settings and customization, performance, interface, animations, sound, visuals, environment, physics, balance and overall content).

highlights of the game:
Many of the main characters are just stellar, especially vs. FC4 and onwards.
Story has lots of memorable moments and is interesting.
Lots of very fun activities outside of the main story - outposts, radio towers, hunting wildlife, attacking pirates are all very fun.
Weapons sounds+animations are great and are all viable options.
Wildlife/animals is plentiful and diverse, and they interact with the world well.
There are different ways to approach situations (like completing a mission or outpost), and each one is viable and fun.
The skill/perk trees are very rewarding and satisfying to unlock and use.

main negatives of the game:
The main story becomes far worse once the second island is unlocked (no spoilers!).
The islands, especially island 2, can feel repetitive and empty at times.
Weapon suppressors are very overpowered making other weapons (like bows) pointless.
Enemy ai is pretty good, but they look and behave identically to each other.
Generic ai use repeated voice lines with poor audio quality.

6.5/10, its okay

- looks good, runs well, controls are fine except mouse input on lower fps areas

- story is okay so far but a bit all over the place
- environment/setting is created and portrayed well
- storytelling can be annoying and lazy at times - npcs give information that your character obviously knew already??
- cutscenes are great
- npcs have little depth (so far, 12 hours in) and are quite boring, as every interaction feels quite mundane
- your characters true motives and beliefs are not obvious (perhaps intentionally), and he shows little expression or emotion for anything (again, perhaps intentionally, but as a result it makes it difficult to really care about him). it almost feels like you're playing an RPG at times because of how empty your character feels

- main gameplay (a walking simulator) is fun at times, but very annoying at others
- walking physics and mechanics are good, vehicle physics and mechanics are complete ♥♥♥♥
- cargo management is good, and equipment upgrades are rewarding
- animations are good
- combat very basic, and essentially nonexistant (so far)
- tension with the BTs (invisible ghost enemies) is good, the MULEs (human enemies) are ♥♥♥♥ in every way - (BT areas are enjoyable obstacles, MULE areas are ♥♥♥♥♥♥ inconveniences)

- repetition - and knowing what to expect in new areas - arrives after about 10 hours or so
- navigating ui is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nightmare with ♥♥♥♥ menus and overplayed animations

should come with ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pillow because this ♥♥♥♥ makes me fall asleep
