Aside from Crash Team Racing, Sonic Transformed is probably the best kart racer I've played. I even believe it dethrones Mario Kart in some ways. The gimmick of transforming vehicles not only make races feel fresh and adds more skill, but the tracks often transform mid-race when you reach a new lap, so no lap is ever quite the same. Top that off with other skill-based mechanics like manual mid-air tricks to build up a boost to narrowly dodging obstacles in planes, and you get one of the best kart racers on the market with a plethora of content to go through. Even solo players have a lot to do in the form of the Adventure mode.
